Default Salmonella and MS???

Okay, not sure if anyone else has come across this issue or not... But I think I might have gotten salmonella from an undercooked egg my DH made for me. About 4-5 hours after eating it, things went south, nothing I eat is really staying in me for long, I'll spare you the details...

Now I've always had a stomach of steel, people would get stomach flus around me or eat something that wasn't good at a bad restaurant and I'd suffer for an hour or two and be fine, they'd be down for a day or two sometimes more. This is going on day 3 for me...

I'm still well hydrated and able to keep water down without an issue. It's really just food that won't stay in the system. And aside from having the MS there's really no reason to seek medical treatment. But I wonder if I shouldn't since I have the MS and I'm taking the Copaxone.... Or since I'm able to stay hydrated should I just ride it out since there's really nothing they can do for it other than antibiotics which could make it last longer....

Ugh.. this is why I always tell the DH OVER HARD, not over easy... yuck.... and darn pills making me too hungry to care...

hi starz,

i don't see any connection to MS.....see what others say.
but, if this goes another 24hrs you might want to try & get into your dr before the end of the wk. and, maybe consider taking a stool sample (keep it refrigerated). they might want to check under a microscope. ask them when you call for the appt.

let us know how you are. hope it clears up.

Sorry for the delay in an update. It has cleared up, ran it's course for about a week. The main concern over it was they say if you have any auto-immune disorders you should seek medical treatment since it can get into the blood stream, leading to fevers and such, increasing the concern for dehydration and can also lead to infections.

I drank a lot, took it easy on what I was eating and never had any kind of fever. Pretty much like anyone else with some kind of food poisoning would do, since I'm neither a very young child nor an especially elderly person. About the only thing of note was that it took soooo long for it to run it's course, I'm not used to being down in the belly for quite that long. An hour or two of nausea, maybe a single bout on the other end. And then I'm fine once more.

My lack of bouncing right back within a few hours, could have been from the Copaxone evening out the immune system some, or might even have been from my gall bladder being ripped out last year. Probably the gall bladder come to think of it, but who knows. Just glad it's over and done with, while my deepest and sincerest sympathies go out to anyone who has ever had a stomach bug, I honestly had no clue how bad it could be until last week. And I have eaten my fair share of bad Chinese, still no clue just how much it bites.
