Many parts of the U.S. will be under extreme heat wave warnings. I am hoping and praying that all of you stay cool. Stock up on ice!!! Make plans to stay in all weekend. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc. will be an MSers best friend this weekend.

Tricia, it's as hot as you know where here! It's been in the upper 90's......except today it was "cooler" at a brisk 92 degrees.
![]() ![]() I have been going through 2 to 3 bags of ice (10# bags) a week. I put it the outside kitties water bowl. It melts almost as soon as I put it in the bowl.

Oh, Kelly! Those poor kitties! I'm sure they must be miserable! I wonder if putting blocks of ice in their bowl would last longer than ice cubes.
I think it's at least 110 degrees out here. Yuck! I don't care if its a dry heat or humid, anything over 100 degrees, like what most of the country is supposed to experience, is way too hot. We're all melting this weekend. |

I turn all my ceiling fans on as soon as I get up. It really does help keep the house cooler.
My AC is set on 70. The only time it cuts off is overnight. I dread my electricity bill!! But it's a necessity and I'm grateful to have it. Tricia, I completely fill up the outside kitties water bowl with ice and let it melt. It's all melted in less than 30 minutes. I keep a bowl of just water nearby for them to drink until the ice melts. Yesterday two birds were splashing around in the water bowl. They get hot, too! ![]()

For me, even a short exposure to summer heat really knocks me out. I avoid it at all costs.

My ac is set at 72 also! It still feels hot in here! Yuck!
Marion!!! It's so good to see a post from you. ![]() Kelly - The birds probably love the water to cool down in. How are the kitties doing? I always worry about animals when the heat is this extreme. I saw someone post something on FB about farm animals in the extreme heat. It had something to do with them dying because it was too hot. ![]() We're supposed to get a cold front within the next week. It might get down in to the 90s. Bbbrrrrrr! ![]() ![]() |

I used to love the summers here in southeast GA. Now, I can't wait for December. lol I made a quick trip to the grocery store today. I went in to the store, got the things I needed, I was inside about 20 minutes. I went back home, pulled the trashcan back up to the house, unloaded the few groceries I had bought and I my arms and legs were so weak and uncoordinated, I am glad my neighbors were not outside I know I looked drunk...lol I was in a cool shower within a matter of minutes.

bdouglas - It's the same here. We only have like 3 or 4 months out of the year when it is cool, unless we having unseasonably cool weather (which is fine by me). Showers are a great way to cool down. Sometimes, I have to cool down a bit before I can get in the shower due to the weakness/fatigue and blurred vision. Now that I have a transfer bench and a hand held shower head it is much easier to get in the shower and rinse off to cool my body down. Of course, I really don't go anywhere except from a/c to a/c to a/c, etc. I do walk to the mailbox but try to do that at the cooler times of the day - meaning, early mornings.
I will say that here the mornings and evenings should start cooling down in about a month and as fall comes, the hottest time of the day is the afternoon. The mornings and evenings are beautiful with temps in the 60's. I am looking forward to that. |

I have found a great shower cool down... The Bert's Bees peppermint body wash! Now that stuff is awesome for cooling down in this heat... Providing you can handle taking 2-3 showers a day (right now hot as its been and sick as I've been its more like 5 showers a day) but it's just so minty cool and smells great too if you like peppermint
![]() ![]() Best part is it can even double as a shampoo leaving everything minty cool, soft and yet shockingly clean... A little worried though as the GB used the bath sponge on the shower door and it took off the hard water stains I hadn't gotten around to cleaning up. So I'm not really sure if it's a "gentle" body wash that makes things feel so clean or some kind of weird minty acid wash that makes you feel clean only because you just lost about three layers of skin ![]()
