I have always heard that Vitamin D3 is very important, and I take 10,000 IU's daily, but never heard about the time of year you were born being a factor.

Well, the link alludes to how much Vit D the mother got in the womb when carrying the baby. People get a lot less in the winter months.

I know mothers are encouraged to take prenatal vitamin but how much Vit D has been in those I have no clue. This Vit D lack in preg mothers is another consideration WHY some get MS.

People who live in high-latitude countries don't get much sun in winter. This may have immunological effects which could be part of the explanation for why MS is relatively common in these countries.
They also don't make much Vitamin D in winter. Low Vitamin D levels could just be a surrogate marker for lack of sunlight rather being causal in MS. This is based on an interesting talk that I heard recently on BBC World Service. Annoyingly, I have been unable to track it down.

It seems to be all speculation as to WHY and this is one I had not heard of from the womb viewpoint. Yes, on the Vit D in general on deficiency. As a matter of fact my sister told me about the D deficiency back in 2006 and I was very deficient and live in So. Calif where the sun always shines but I'm not sitting or laying in it. So I supplement.
She was making sure her daughter was getting enough D as the mother/daughter connection and MS. No one knows WHY on anything we end up with, I deal with a body of arthritis and I can come up with probably 5 reasons why I believe I live with it. |

Yeah, I’m also vit d deficient but taking a supplement or even drinking too much milk with vitamin d throws me right into toxicity. But then all my family members have been told we have vitamin d deficiencies and all react the same way to attempts to supplement that. Yet I’m the only one with MS. Now that they’re doing more research on agent orange though it could be my fathers fault. He was Vietnam vet was definitely exposed, the us denies the connection but Australia recognizes it.
