Hang in there, Cherie, the ringing may decrease, but if not, the vast majority of people learn to ignore it and it does not negatively affect their lives. Mine is not too loud but it's constant, but I quickly learned to think of it as "my friendly neighborhood tinnitus" and then ignore it.

It's possible that your flight caused or aggravated some ear problem, but in general it's often hard for doctors, even specialists, to tell the cause of tinnitus and other ear problems. EAr? Brain? Both? Who knows?

HOpe it goes away or decreases soon for you.

Hi, I was hospitalized
for this problem back in July. What I have found
to help me is putting an earplug in the affected
ear. My biggest problem on top of the ones that
you mentioned is that every sound is more amplified
in the opposite ear.

I get all kinds of weirdness happening with my hearing. It'll suddenly deaden in one ear, for no apparent reason. Or it'll start ringing out of the blue (more of a high pitched tone than a ring). sometimes it'll do both in rapid succession. Come to think of it, I've never had it checked out. I guess I just assumed it happened to everybody.

Really curious here, Pat. What does this mean?

Scott, do you mean the whoring noise? It's as if a humming birds wings are beating on my ear drum, kind of. Or the sound of a roaring ocean, it's hard to decribe.

Default Ringing ears

I've noticed this 'ringing' more since I started Wellbutrin.

But I also get this 'flutter' feeling that makes me want to itch my eardrum!
It causes a real intense itch almost like my inner ear is being tickled. I can feel the flutter of something going on in there. Maybe a muscle twitching?

There are other times I get a sudden muffling of noise. It only lasts a few seconds and then things return to normal.

I also get an ache in my upper jaw (its not TMJ) that feels like a dull, persistant ache.....I think it may be a muscle spasitity thing. So there is something that is going on between my ears and below to the jaw joint.

I've chalked it up to a MS thing.

Scott, I get exactly the same things you described. I think they are pretty common in people with ear problems.

I have had sudden hearing loss in my left ear off and on for several years along with ringing, headaches on the left side and facial pain. The hearing loss has lasted any where from days to weeks before improving, but the ringing is constant.

I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease a year ago. I was told to watch my salt intake and cut the caffeine to lessen fluid buildup. Sometimes diuretics may help, but if it was really bad I could take steroids to help shorten the duration.

I hope you see some improvement soon.
