AMN: It's cold, rainy and crappy in in OH too.

Sally: On the bright side The Buckeyes did kick some Wolverine butt although it was a bit boring, the ball was cold and slippery, not much drama or penalties. We're goin' to the Rose Bowl!

Hey Cheryl, did the repairman ever show up?

Not today he didn't. Big surprise. Still no heat.

On the bright side, Boise State beat Univ of Idaho 58-14 and the scouts from the Sugar Bowl were here. If we do good against Hawaii (we gotta win that one), we might be Sugar Bowl bound! We would be conference undefeated! Too bad it's in New Orleans

Cheryl what is razor clams? I love clams. But have only had the ones my husband and I dug here in Barnegat Bay, N.J. He said they were cherry stone clams, little necks, I forgot what they called the bigger ones. Is the names different because where they come from?

This is a razor clam. They are found along the Oregon and Washington coast. They are dee-li-cious! You really have to work for them. There is quite a technique to digging them and the best time is very low tide.

Daffy knows what they are....hey where is she anyway...Oh Tiffy...where you be? I know...end of the quarter...she's got kids to take care of....


Still no heat...not sure if the repairman is going to show up today, but at least the sun is shining today. I am sitting in my office, with my space heater, door closed, so I am toasty warm. I have work to do ....

Joyce - how was the venison?

The venison was great. It was the loin that I cut up for steaks. DELIOUS My children are great cooks. My daughter makes receipes for venison that you would never know what kind of meat it is. She has fooled quit a few bunch of people into eating it. The main thing I am sure you know is the processing of the meat and making sure it is cleaned proberly. I have tasted some venison and if I never tasted the good cooking of it I would not want to try it again. I have made venison strogganoff and chow mein from it. When possible I would prefer to have venison than beef. Tonight it is spagetti and venison meatballs. Those razor clams do sound good and they look delious.

Maybe we should start a new thread, but....

funny story about venison! My half brother is totally against hunting in any way, shape or form. Anything to do with guns, he is against.

One year, probably about 10 years ago, I was invited to his house for Thanksgiving and asked to bring some hors d'oeurves. We usually have some of the venison made into salami/summer sausage/whatever you want to call it. It's excellent. They mix it with spices and usually pork or beef. Anyway, that's what I brought with a variety of cheeses and crackers. I never said a word about what it was b/c I knew he, nor anyone else there for that matter, would eat it. Everyone raved about it! It was gone in a flash. I just let them think it was from one of the local deli's! Never did tell them they were eating the deer that PODH had shot that year!

You are right, it's all in the way it's cooked. I've had some really bad venison!

How's everyone doing today??????? Now that we've cooked the venison!

Hello Cheryl,
Those clams look delicious. We used to go to a place in the Village when I was in Graduate School in NYC that served "STEAMERS". I loved them, and probably could have eaten an entire bucket of them myself. They were so fresh. When we moved to Fla., they had clams, but they were not at all like the ones I had in NY. Here in GA., I've never even seen clams on a menu anywhere. I really miss them.

It started out as a beautiful sunny day here, and now it is clouding up a bit. We can use the rain. All of our flowers are dead, and they have said there is only enough water to last until the end of the year. It really is frightening. It's pretty seeing all the leaves change. I've missed the change of seasons while we were living in Fla.

I have had venison just as you said calling summer sausage, jerky, italian sausage, hot dogs, breakfast sausage and so on and so on. When done right you will nener know the difference. Put it out with cheese and crackers and you have a feast. Years ago my husband introduced me to Quail Eggs. I started pickling them and they would go like hot fire when I made a plate of finger picking food. There is so much wild food that you can't get in N.J. anymore the population is growing so fast we are lossing a lot a land. Hunting is not like it used to be. I know some people are against hunting but it is more cruel to me the way the animals are slaughtered that are sold in the stores. It's the old saying What I Don't See and Know Will Not Bother Me. We should start a page of different receipes made with the different God given food that we have, and hopefully everyone will get involved with their different receipes no matter what they are made from. It might help to get our minds on something good instead of the failing meat of our bodies.
