Ok...Once I had to work down in SW Texas and I drove a bunch of equipment down alone. I was on one of those farm roads they have in TX, just a number and a long straight small road, and I saw a tumbleweed spinning down the road in front of me...and I chased it down and tossed it in the back of the truck.

I brought it all the way back home to Maine, spray painted it white and I had it for years!! It sat in the corner of my living room for a very long time and was a great conversation piece for all us Mainahs, most of whom had never see none of them thangs before!

Cue laughter now...

You'd be laughing harder if I told you about the Texas dinosaur...

No Silly Spray painting made it look nice and clean and white! I put Christmas lights on it, everyone kept asking me "WTF IS that thing?" and I would start laughing and tell them the story of chasin' down the tumbleweed. They would go examine it in great detail and say how it looked NOTHING like a "real" tumbleweed, like they have in the movies...( some of my friends are a leetle slow)

Sal? The dinosaur story...

so here I was driving along on some other unnamed road in SW Texas ( there's a lot of them down there) and I am running through what to a New Englander looks like sand dunes.

All of a sudden I see what appears to be a head come up over a dune and look at me ( alone on this road in my pickup full of river gear) and then duck behind the dune again... and I almost drove off that road. I ended up slamming the brakes on and stopping cause I thought I was losing my mind. I KNOW it was a dinosaur!!

So I watched and sure enough...there it was again!! OMG...a dinosaur in the wilds of SW Texas!!! Being as brave as I am, I get out and sneak up on it to take a picture next time it pops it's head up...I crouch behind what may have been an attached tumbleweed ( one that isn't tumbling yet?) and I wait...and up the head comes again...and down it goes...

I run to the top of that dune and start snapping pics as fast as I can...and then I realize...

It's an oil rig thing...

LMAO! Someone had painted their oil rig thingy with eyes and a mouth and I SWEAR to you, it looked just like a dinosaur!!

( i am such a greenhorn sometimes!)
