I hope you find something to help Leeann. I am sorry you are in so much pain. I hate to hear this type of thing. There has to be something they can give you. I hope you find it.

Have you tried Elavil? I take it at night for nerve pain but I occasionally take it during the day if nothing else works.
I have a pretty good cocktail of meds right now for me as you probably already know but with Cymbalta, Neurontin and Elavil the pain is manageable. Not gone tho. I don't get relief from just pain meds but I take a Vicodin sometimes because it at least lets me sleep. The reminds me, have to go take my meds.

I am not much help. I haven't tried weed for pain. I was offered it once by DBF's cousin's wife. She uses it for pain - don't know what she has - but she says it works really well for her.
Like anything, it's more of a tial and error kind of thing. I'm so sensitive to drugs that I've gotten to be pretty cautious about them. PCP told me to take 2 lorezepam's before my MRI once. I fell a sleep and then started hallucinating. No more of that for me. lol |

Pops in and sits down right next to Snoopy...
![]() Slides over a brownie, a water pipe, a chocolate chip cookie and a nice fat joint.... Now guess which one has the weed in it? ![]() ( it's ALL of them!! I vary my partaking in a few different ways. It truly helps me with the spasticity garbage. I only need a little and it's like someone is unwinding the thread that twists around my muscles and pulls them up tight!) Seriously LeeAnn, I was never one for medications. I am STILL getting used to taking pills and I am only on three meds right now besides the Tysabri!! I always forget to take the pills on time and end up having a puff or a bite of cookie or brownie to loosen my muscles up a little, while I wait for the pills to kick in cause I took them so late! I have talked to my neuro about this and have his blessing, although he would obviously rather have me get with the program and take the stupid meds correctly! I think moderate use of marijuana for medicinal purposes should be legal for everyone! ![]()

Spasticity/spasm pain was very bad for me during that two year period. I was using braces, had a claw hand, and I ached every hour of every day. It was less then a week into LDN that that pain went away completely . . . except when I have to adjust the LDN down for a few weeks at the start of every cold season. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. I know how tiring it can be, and hope you can get some relief! Cherie

Snoopy!
Someone already said, "Everyone has different reactions to it". Which I can only ditto and add that when I smoked some... ok... more than just 'some'... it was a quick fix at best. Percocets (7.5s) still work better for me, last longer and don't make me dizzy. I really hope you find something that works for you.

RW, your crackin' me up ![]() Moose, a med like percocet might work better but I really shy away from those types of meds even my shrink complained I under used Klonopin. My concerns are deep rooted - I had a step-sister who was addicted to rx drugs, would end up in psych wards and finally in her mid to late 20s overdosed. Then you add in past generations of alcohol abuse - well, I'm sure you "get it." Thanks so very much, Cherie. Sassy, I'm really at the point of giving up on "traditional" meds to help with this pain. My neuro even commented I just may need to "adjust" to the pain as it may be permanent. I wasn't too happy with his comment but it drove home what I had wondered about for awhile. Thanks, tkrik. I know weed may or may not help, it seems to be hit or miss. I took a 1mg Klonopin and 20 mg Baclofen - I didn't get tired and they didn't touch the pain.

Leann-
As an add-on to the meds you try, you may want to give biofeedback a try. I learned how to do it using a computer program in a college class I took. The professor was a pain and sports psychologist - so he was very into the mind-body connection. In cases of extreme pain, he couldn't make it go away, but he could help people control their response to it and it ceased to control their life (sounds new-agey, but it wasn't at all). One of his chronic patients came in and it was amazing how the things he taught had really helped her. Just a thought in case you hadn't heard of it. |

What about Lyrica? That is supposed to be good with sensory types of pain? I don't know anything personally, but it is something I've heard about.
