AMN,
I know I'm coming in late with this, but what you're describing happens to me when I've had to take more than a usual amount of Percocets. (7.5/500s) I can tell I have to go, I know I need to go, but then I stand there and practically have to concentrate on it.

Told the urologist about it, he did a sonogram (sp) on my bladder. ---Full and empty.--- Turns out it's just an odd side effect of the pain pills.

Anyway, I hope you get the relief you need soon.

AMN, I hope you plan on following thru with the doctor visits..I'm not in the self-cathing club yet, but last neuro visit they did an ultrasound on my bladder and it wasn't good.
Kinda funny, actually..I don't feel like I have to go until I stand up & walk around. Within seconds I'm running to the bathroom ("running"..Ha). When I get there, nothing..Nada..Zilch. Too bad girls can't go standing up..

i have tjis kind of problem too and thankfully it was relatively short lived most of the time i have the opposite problem of urgency but i was sent to a Continence Nurse for assessment and she was able to do a very simple ultra sound pre and post peeing to see how much residual urine was in my bladder post peeing. Not only can retained urine lead to UTI but it can also lead to reflux back up towards the kidneys where it can do serious renal damage. I now see the Continence Nurse at least yearly for a check just to be sure that my residual volumes are not increaing

Twippy! IT WORKED, IT WORKED!!!!!

THANK YOU EVERYBODY! It went away for now!!!! I am so relieved that I relieved myself this morning! I called it in and my nurse said that we might be looking at spasms, but we'll wait for the doc to weigh in on it.

It's funny, I've never really paid a lot of attention to this function and I realized this morning that everything felt relaxed and nothing felt like it was "fighting" the process. Man, I am so so happy about that!

What kind of Drano did you use? LOL. I need some of that some times. LOL

Actually, I drink green tea when I get like that. It seems to work well for me. Sometimes too well and I end up at the other extreme but, oh heck, that would be another whole thread. LOL

Cindy went Tee Tee (sorry, that seems to be something they say down here in the South!)!!!! Good for you. Just keep an eye on it, as you don't want to be retaining urine and not know about it! GOOD GIRL, CINDY! Does anyone have any M&M's as a reward?
