I used to get cold sores every time I was run down, or if I was in the sun or wind. I found some great stuff when I lived in New Zealand, and I still send back for it every few years. It takes away a cold sore as soon as I start to get it.

I don't get cold sores cropping up much any more though, at least not since the MS got bad. Then again, I don't do anything (like ski, boat, or have stress from work), so maybe that's why I'm not having as much problem with them. When I was kid they'd literally take over the bottom 1/2 of my face.

As far as the fever, I feel it is very important to treat it and keep it in check, no matter what the cause. My youngest just spent the last week at home because she couldn't break a fever, and I was treating her every 6 hrs without fail. She too has a low temp normally (96.4) and she got up to 102.5 over night, which woke her early one morning. When it started to spike over 100 (which is high for her, and it was obvious by her face and actions), I would treat her right away. It still took about 45 min for the Advil to work (Tylenol doesn't work for her) and she'd climb up 1 - 1.5 degrees in that period.

We finally got some antibiotics ~ don't know what for, they didn't identify an infection of any kind ~ but that was what seemed to do the trick finally. I think it is just a virus going around right now.

With MS . . . TREAT THE FEVER. I feel that is vital until you can get to a doc to see what's causing it.
