I was sure I did have neuropathy (after all my last Dr for 2 years was treating me for it and said I had it) but than when my neuro did the EMG he said "NO, I didn't have neuropathy", so now I'm wondering if you can have a "nerve pain issue" that would be negative on a EMG test.

All I know is I have pain (feels like nerve pain to me) a lot that pain meds don't help with (even Lyrica) and now all this numbness is making things harder for me.

I'm having more burning pain now than I have ever had.

The tinnitus is really getting to me.

My memory is SO bad now.

For the 1st time yesterday I was having a hard time driving because my right foot was partly numb and tingling and I couldn't tell how much I was even pushing the peddle.

I still don't have all the feeling back in my lower body and it's been about 9 weeks now.

LOL, I feel like checking my shelf in the hospital and telling them I'm not leaving and they "fix" me, LOL. They might not be able to DX with with anything but I know I'm broken some how.

If you find a hospital that can fix these types of problems, I'll be on the very next flight.

One more vent, with this numbness I don't know I need to "go" until my bladder is in pain and it's time to go NOW.

Sounds like a UTI or yeast infection. Get tested!

I don't have pain when going, and the "pain" my bladder is gone as soon as I go, it's just the really full bladder "discomfort".
I'm also leaking some right after I'm done.

If you are numb, it makes sense there's no pain when going.

Get checked . . . I ignored the full bladder feeling until I went into a full blown paralysis attack from a UTI !!

I NEVER have pain with urination when I have UTIs, they used to be caught only incidentally to other hospitalizations for my 5-8 week long whatever those episodes were.

Ok, now let's see if I can get this out coherently

YES, you can have "nerve pain issues" (neuropathy) that don't (doesn't) show on EMGs and probably lots of folks here on this board are in that position.

EMGs are done to check for electrical impulses produced in your muscles and you probably had a Nerve Conduction Test (nasty little needles and shocks)
along with it which measures how quickly messages are carried by your nerves, i.e. to check for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Both of these can be perfectly normal and the person can still have a multitude of neuropathies stemming FROM WITHIN the brain and/orspinal cord rather than from nerves going TO or FROM the brain or spinal cord.

Is it possible the Doc said you didn't have Peripheral Neuropathy? That would fit better.

Her SX are very nonspecific. There are no real objective deficit suggesting a significant central or peripheral nerve system disease. Apparently she has been told that she had neuropathy in the past though the EMG and nerve conduction study today does not reveal any sign of the nerve, root, or plexus lesion. It is possible her SX are related to fibro. Ruling out organic cause would be appropriate.



He did 2 test, that needle shock thing and the metal thing they put on you and shock you over and over again in the same place.

Well, the nice thing about that is that he says you have fibro and acknowledges that. He also does not say that you have a strong non-organic component, which means that while he can't put a finger on it, he doesn't think you're totally nuts and creating the sx. Ruling out organic causes is nice. He wants to make sure that other things aren' causing whatever it is that ails ya.

It's my same beef with two neurologists looking at MRIs and seeing different things. He's not seeing what the other neuro did and/or he's discounting that based on what he found himself.

All's not horrible with this. Unfortunately, it doesn't say exactly WHAT it is that is causing everything for you.

Yet another non-specific answer to a problem. Life's full of 'em. Too bad we can't write up non-specific reports on the docs.
