i posted this on the questions of life thread but wanted to also pull it out of that thread to allow those who have been encouraging and following my story to find it easier!

I have been to see the new neuro and I'm really glad that i did! preliminary exam suggests that I do not have blethrospasms - at least not in the traditional sense! (the forced closure of the eye lids). and they are HOPING to rule OUT MS!!!!!! i sure hope that is the case!!!!!

i do have some balance issues and some muscle weakness (the perception of muscle weakness probably comes - i'm guessing here- but it probably comes from the balance issues which may come from the doubble vision).

physical therapy has been recommended for the balance issues.

we still at this very moment are no closer to figuring out why i have the doubble vision, /(why my eyes fatigue so easily and then cause the double vision) but it is with about 80% certainty not the traditional blethrospasms.

the new neuro is going to order an MRI just to be sure it is not some sort of leasions in the brain that could account for the doubble vision. but she is fairly confident that the MRI will come back normal. i would be sooooooooo happy if it did!

I am still in limbo land but at least i don't have to go on valium or clonopon to treat blethrospasms.

interestingly there is no spasticity in my muscles when i am off of the mestinon so that may very well be part of my problem (the mestinon that is).

i wish i had an definite answer but I am willing to wait if that is what it takes to get the CORRECT answer!

You may be right about your reaction to Mestinon. I hope that everything is resolved for you soon.

Good news--and good for you, getting that second opinion! It sounds like you're on the right path towards getting the answers you need.

Fingers crossed for good news on all the tests and MRI

If your forced eye closures act anything like mine (yeah right, like that happens around here ) Then years from now, maybe you too will have some relief. I think it took about 3-4 years to get some 'normalcy' back to them...and now its just an annoyance that I only think about when I have my "bad eye days" as I call them...I'm still amazed that I've finally met someone like me but so sorry you are living this way....I totally understand.

Drugs can have some wicked side-effects, and withdrawal symptoms . . . so hopefully once the mestinon is out of your system, you will be feeling much better. That would be the best result you can possibly hope for, eh?
