Default Update on Alzheimer's Meds.

Friday I went to see both my PCP and my neuro regarding possible depression and significant cog fog.

The decision was made to first stop the Topamax that I've been taking for migraines. Apparently, it has been known to cause cog fog in the first month or so for some people. Even though I've been taking it SIGNIFICANTLY longer than a month, I'm one of those people that usually get all of the weird symptoms. So.....

I'm weaning off the Topamax. Once I've been off for a week, I'll start Lexapro. It's an antidepressant with few side effects.

Once I've been on that for one month, I'll start on Aricept. If I get to the point that I still have the cog fog and the Aricept isn't doing the trick, I'll try Namenda (works by a different mechanism than Aricept).

Keep your fingers crossed for me :-)
