At least not until the infection in my mouth is gone. (stupid dental work!)
I'm starting to regret the stupid dental work I had done last week (it HAD to be done, but I'm mad that it triggered an infection) I still have more that needs to be done in my mouth, and I wanted to do that in a few months, but now I guess I need to finish it as soon as I can. So, tomorrow I'm going back to the dentist, she can tell me how bad it is, if I need to do anything else to get rid of the infection, and then make an appointment to get the other stuff that needs finishing, and then let the other stuff go till this summer. I just hate the numbness in my feet (it's in both of them now...yay...not!) I can deal with it when it's an arm, or a hip, but not in my feet and toes. Too uncomfortable there...plus it gets more numb when I walk on it a lot. It waxes and wanes too...some days it's not bad, some days it's really horrible. I just wish the numbness would go away. Hopefully after I get the dental issues dealt with, then maybe I can have a bit of steroid and maybe things will do a remission for awhile. |

Is that because this may only be a pseudo exacerbation, due to the infection?

yep...he even said that he needed to have a talk with me about the "meaning of pseudo-exacerbation..."
argh! I'm still not sure that it wasnt an actual flare/exacerbation. Because the numb foot is new, and it's lasted more than 24 hours. (more like 2 weeks) But, he swears that I've told him my feet were numb before. So, it's a pseudo to him. The numb nose was new too, and he didnt even comment about that. He said that if I'm still having problems once the teeth issues are resolved, then maybe I can have a little bit of steroids. (going back to the dentist tomorrow to have her evaluate the problem, and then I'm making an appointment for after the antibiotics are finished.) |

I'm sorry you are still struggling with the numbness. It is good to hear it's not a real relapse, but it sucks that you can get no relief. I'm numb from head to toe and it waxes and wanes for me constantly. I try not to acknowledge it to myself (denial), in hopes it will disappear back to a minimum level. Good luck with the dentist. I hope you are feeling like yourself again soon. ![]()

She thought she figured out the source of some of my jaw/tooth pain. Two of the three teeth she fixed last week had somehow gotten stuck to each other with the composite material that she filled my teeth with. She got them unstuck, and after that happened, some of the jaw pain went away. So, I guess those two teeth were pulling on each other, and causing some of the irritation. I can bite down normally now too. That must have been what was screwing up my bite a little bit. I dont feel feverish today, and feel a lot better than I did the past few days. I guess it was a combination of a little fever, plus two stuck together teeth, plus the infection that was making me feel all nasty and MS-ish. I think I'm going to have to get used to the numb foot. It's probably just another one of the weird, wacky things that MS does to a person. It's probably just gotten magnified by the low grade fever that I had all weekend from the infection. |

So the numbness in your mouth (and other mouth issues) were likely due to the tooth/teeth situation?
If so, your doc is probably right because I think I recall you have had the numbness in your feet before. Numbness anywhere in the lower 40 would be "old" damage, if you have had it anywhere down yander before. Having said that, I really don't know how they can say that it isn't an attack (only psuedo) when a person has previously been paralyzed for most of their entire body (like me). Does that mean that any new (healed and newly active) paralysis is only a pseudo exacerbation? ![]() I think they are wrong sometimes. ![]() ![]() Cherie
