Hi there newmelbournemember from a fellow Aussie.

I can't add any more to the answer that you gave, except to add that for me it's extremely painful at times.

I can't actually say that it's connected to the MS diagnosis, but it is a common ailment just the same.

I'm glad I saw this thread. A friend with ms recently spent a few days in the hospital with chest pain having all kinds ot tests - they thought she'd had a heart attack, but they found nothing wrong.

I found this link, i'm sending it to her. She still has no answers as to what the pain is from.

YES YES YES I have costochondritis as it finally has a name toyears of pain, spasms from my mid back around to my ribs. Its SOOO bad that it literally takes my breath away !!!

Is it the MS hug? Both? Either? Who knows. All I know is that is my worst symptom. AND now I think its combines with spasticity in my back that contributes to this awful squeezing pain!!

BUT...I learned from a speech professional that my swallowing problems and radiating pain/pressure in my chest all the way up to my throat is NOT a heart attack, is NOT carotid artery blockage or stroke or ALL the things they thought I presented with BUT GERD or acid reflux problems causing the esophagus to spasm etc. I dont get the burning as people do with acid reflux. Its a terrible pressure and eventually swallowing problems.

Good luck in getting your answers. !!

Warmly, Jan
