Default Hi! My name is Barb and I am a failure at DMD's!

I keep going to the thread and reading the latest posts on tysabri and then I get so depressed. I feel like such a failure when it comes to all of these drugs, and I am not used to failing. I just do not understand how I could have allergic reactions or other problems (antibodies) with all of the DMD's. And I managed to go through them all in one year! Talk about an overachiever!

I know I should probably quit reading these posts, but for some reason I can't. Plus, at this point I am driving myself a bit crazy researching all of the drugs that are currently in trial. I know that my neuro mentioned rituxan as a possibiltiy to me, but it scares me after all of my other reactions.

Someone needs to come and turn off my computer.

Have you tried any of the other therapies, like Estriol, or LDN? Will your neuro even consider letting you try them? (I think Estriol is still in trials, and treating MS with LDN is still currently an off-label use of the drug)

Hey, Barb...

You have a more specialized need and the DMD's that others take are just not good enough.

As my wife says, and I agree, "Special People Deserve Special Things". Now we need to find the special thing that will help you.

Do not feel like a failure!

Accuse the pharmacuetical companies of failing you!

You deserve better, and I sure hope that it is found.

In the meantime, dump the belief that you are a failure. The drug companies have failed you...for now.

They will get it right.

Barb

You are not the only member of that club. Trust me, it's not an exclusive club. I am a member too. That's why I am in a clinical trial.

That may not be much consolation for you right now, but it's the best I can do for you...that and lots of hugs and understanding.

I failed on Beta, beta and methotrexate, Ty and Copaxone.

Like Victor said, you aren't a failure, they have failed you. We aren't all made the same way. Keep trying, sooner or later, something will work for you.

Right now you need to focus on you and get some symptom relief. LDN might be a good choice. I would...

I'm so much a failure at meds, they didn't even try me on them. Fortunately LDN has worked pretty well for me.

I understand your disapointment. You might just have to look outside the box now, but perhaps you will still find your ticket.

Barb
You are so NOT a failure. And you are not alone. I've been on Avx, Copax, Rebif, Methotrexate.

I'm taking Imuran with no side effects. I just started Namenda this week so after 3 days of titration, it's too soon to say.

It's not you. Keep your chin up. As my doc always tells me, there are so many new things in the pipeline, one is bound to be right for you.

I'm with you Barb, on the failure thingy..I tried Avonex and Copaxone and didn't want to try another.

I have been taking LDN for many years, now and have been pretty stable since. It's not a miracle drug but has improved my quality of life immensely.

It seems to be helping my DD, who also has MS (early stages), to stay in remission, for the last 4 years. She never would take any of the DMDs.

In the meantime, I hope they come up with your magic bullet, soon.

no one is a failure, its not you its the med and illness, to be a failure would to be incontrol of how the meds help you and preveting that from happening, that would be failure, trying learning reading participating, that is far from failure, it takes courage to keep trying, and even more so, when face with negative outcomes, Barb
