I stared at it for a long time hoping that it would come "into focus" for me but nothing......I'm not sure what it is - but it's a cruel trick to play on someone with MS and eye problems!

Sheesh - usually captcha isn't that hard to read. It is usually different letters that are wiggily, but nothing like that!!! Yikes... I wonder how many members they have...LOL

They want you to read the letters that are written out in ASCII which is what the old dot matrix printers used to use to print out pictures and designs.

My dad and I used ASCII to make a calendar for my mom back in the early 1980s. The calendar was a picture of a body builder named Mike. It made a one year calendar.

I'm not sure what the second letter in the ASCII you posted, but it's M (something) 4 9.

The ASCII is a little off, like someone hit a space bar or something a few times and knocked it out of alignment. But there's enough there that I can see at least 3 of the characters.

thanks guys, I tried it again different letters and numbers...couldn't read them so emailed them to the site and they emailed me back with the answer so I am now a member of MSNews.

I hate those stupid tests to tell humans from a bot...I feel like a bot sometimes. It takes me several tries to see what they want.

When I hit the Quote button to reply to you, the ASCII looks totally clear to me in the message box where I'm typing this post. I can clearly see that it's H37i.

It looks all bunched up in the original post tho. So maybe it's something that the forum is doing to it to screw it up and not your Mac? Possibly because it's not all by itself at the top of the post or something.
