That is good news.

I have a difficult time with meats. I can not tell if they are spoiled or not. But I can smell other things.

Not being able to smell a messy diaper has been beneficial because I have had a child or two in diapers non stop for over 11 years now.

Not to mention my two adult children who were in diapers themselves. I am probably a very fast diaper changer by now!

Can hormones throw your sense of smell off? I don't think I have a hormone issue but at my age you never know I guess.

Here's another link on the "loss of smell with MS" symptom. The good news is:

"The nerve cells servicing the olfactory epithelium are unique to the nervous system. Unlike nerve cells anywhere else in the body, the olfactory neurons are able to recover or regenerate after injury. This means that incidences of anosmia can be temporary."

Hey, you might be right about this. I remember when I was pregnant my sense of smell actually increased. There were certain smells that really got to me (raw meat) and others that I used to love I hated.

Your idea makes sense to me. I have also heard from many friends that are peri-menopausal and menopausal about weird changes such as vision, memory, fatigue, etc. I am not there yet, but based on what I have heard losing your sense of smell due to hormones would not surprise me in the least.

I know. It is so hard to tell. I guess it really does not matter. It would be nice if I would get my smell back though!

The other thing is I am on several different medications. Two of them are for MS. It could be worse!
