Default Lexapro

I am starting Lexapro. Besides weight gain are there any other BIG issues with this medication?

My doctor was going to put me on Cymbalta but changed to Lexapro when I told her about my history of anxiety/panic attack problems.

I have never been on an anti depressant so I am leary and not sure what to expect.

I am hoping to feel BETTER!

I've taken Lexapro for a couple years now, and haven't noticed any nasty side effects with it..It didn't make me sleepy, and that was my main complaint with others. Good luck with it, I hope you're feeling better soon, too!

I had been on Lexapro for about 2 years.

I didn't have a problem with weight gain and I found Lexapro helpful for anxiety/panic attacks and depression.

Cymbalta is also used for anxiety. I know someone who is using Cymbalta for that purpose with good results.

Hope you fell better soon

Thanks Snoopy and Polar Express,
I am nervous about adding yet another medication to my little pharmacy.

I did a search on Lexapro and saw so many bad reports.

Hearing someone had luck with it helps.

Thanks.....LA (another Lee Ann)

There really are not that many of us around with this spelling. Mine is my first and middle name.

Two popular singers spell their names the same way though. Lee Ann Rhimes and Lee Ann Womack. I just do not know if there is a space between lee and ann in either of their names.

Well, I just took my first dose of Lexapro. I split it and took 5mg. I was thinking I'd take half dose for a few days. We'll see what happens.

I've been on Lexapro for about a year. It's been most helpful. I had to start really slow because I would fall asleep just sitting down. I started 5mg at night for a couple weeks. Moved to 5mg in the morning. for a couple more. 5mg in am and 2-1/2mg in pm, for a week. Then 5 and 5 for a week. Finally am up to 10mg in the morning and life is good! BTW, no weight gain for me either.

Much success.

Thanks so much Beth. This is so encouraging. I took 5mgs a while ago and now I think I should have taken it this evening. I want to go back to sleep. I am a slight bit dizzy too.

Thank you for telling me what your schedcual was working up to a full dose. I LOVE my MS doctor but she is not good about working me up to a full dose of anything.

Can Advil be taken with Lexapro? I take Advil to help with my Avonex side effects.

Lex is one of several ADs my neuro had me try for pain. I did not do well with it, and after I got off it took weeks before I felt normal again. It was the worst of all the ADs I tried, and I swore it would be the last.

Your results may vary - and I hope you do just fine.
