I'm not sure if it was being caused by a inner ear thing, or my 8th cranial nerve could have been misfiring. Or, if it was something from my optic neuritis. I do think I had some nystagmus going on, so I'm inclined to believe it's probably related to my optic neuritis. I got checked for an ear infection, and she didnt find anything wrong with my ears. Told me they looked perfectly healthy. Are you having a problem with vertigo right now?? My neuro told me it's the second most uncomfortable sensation a person can have. The MOST uncomfortable sensation, according to my neuro is shortness of breath. I'm not inclined to agree with that...and I have had shortness of breath. I think vertigo is the worst sensation that I have ever felt. If you're experiencing vertigo right now, hopefully it wont last long. I'm hoping my vertigo will resolve before I have to take any steroids. Vertigo is the only MS symptom that I've ever had steroids for before. (last year, right about this time) But that vertigo was different than all my other experiences with it. The vertigo I have right now, is fairly constant, but not severe. The vertigo I had last year would come on suddenly. I'd be standing (or sitting) and I felt this spinning sensation come up the right side of my body. It went into my head, and at about that point would be when I'd fall to the floor. Then I would feel this spinning start to swirl around my head, and it felt like it went down to the middle of my body. Gravity seemed like was increased and I'd have to stay where I was until it wore off. It would leave after 20 or 30 minutes, but I'd be really exhausted, or would feel drunk for the next few hours. That was a really weird sensation, and I would consider that SEVERE vertigo. What I have now, constant that it is, I can still walk and drive, and I dont feel like I'm stuck to the floor unable to move. I know my neuro is going to be sending me to an ENT next week as soon as he finds out I dont have an ear infection.
