My brother would agree with you, Jules. He likes to send me stuff about health issues. He called me today to make sure that I not only knew that Aspartame is bad for pwMS, but that I should notify all my MS friends.

Everyone, please consider this your notification.

Oh, and he can get you the phone number of an acquaintance with MS who opted not to go on DMDs, but is controlling very nicely with herbs and healthy food.

Like I needed to hear that while on my way home from new neuro who is going to have me try Rebif. Ugh!

BTW, we've had dogs and cats with distemper, but no bites. Sorry about your rabies shots, Sally!

My daugther got me hooked on Craigs list. So far I haven't bought anything, just enjoyed looking. But she has gotten some good bargains on it. My other daughter has her 8 foot boa on sale on our cities Craigs list if anyone is interested.

Sometimes I feel like putting my husband fup or free on their list!

I try so hard to take it with the generous spirit that it is intended but sometimes it just gets me at the wrong time. My father wanted me to go to some clinic in Mexico that had you make your funeral arrangements before you went...OMG!

It is very sweet that your brother said to warn all your MS friends also.

For the record, just to shut my Mother up I no longer consume any type of artificial sweetners. Not that I ate that much to begin with but whatever.

Default Distemper

I had never heard of the distemper theory until someone posted on another message board I frequent.

It was pretty uncanny -- the poster and his wife were dxed with MS at just about the same time. They each had different neurologists and the husband's doctor noted when taking his history that the couple had been exposed to an animal with distemper and told him about a link.

Distemper aside, I remember that the couple had been together since their teenage years so it doesn't seem unreasonable that they both encountered SOME external thing that was the same.

Within the next six months another new poster came to the board saying that his wife had been dxed not long after his own dx. He couldn't believe it. No mention of distemper from that couple but it's still sure curious in terms of a potential common external influence.

OMG!! My Ma still rags on me about ingesting
ANYTHING with artificial sweetener. She's sure that is what is causing my symptoms. Of course last year it was Lyme's Disease because her friend's uncle's cousin or something was misdiagnosed with MS when it was Lyme's Disease. I think it only took maybe 50 times or so of my Neuro and I explaining why it was MS. Cripes!

Thanks for the warning Twink.

My Dad told me he read about artificial sweeteners being dangerous. I remember years ago when my Aunt developed Alzheimers, they were investigating deodorant and aluminum.

It does get crazy when people come up with all these theories. If it's not one thing it's the other. I am still wondering about the sweeteners warning that it may cause MS. Never have figured out how they know that.

I need to get my old boxes of articles and books in storage about MS dating back to the early 90's and see what they say.

I do remember a huge deal about bee stings.

I love doing Craigs list but I have been baffled by all the people that have emailed me with their phone number to set up a time to come over. They don't show up! Why would you email a complete stranger and give them your number and then be a no show?

It's weird getting their emails with their excuses after waiting for them. The last girl who didn't show up told me a relative died. I hope she wasn't fibbing about that!

Your husband would sell fast. LOL

Hi Beary,

So you heard it too?!?!? There is no telling what the truth is about getting MS. It may be from many different things affecting people. There are so many illness's that have no explanation.

My best friend's grandson, who had the kidney transplant in April, has a kidney disease that is supposed to be genetic but no one in the family has it.

I have no one in my family that we know of that has MS. My best friend and I were diagnosed within 2 years of each other. She has Lupus and I have MS and we lost touch for those years and couldn't believe it when we spoke to each other. We had gone through the same tests ruling out different diseases. There is no history of Lupus in her family either.

We have been friends for 35 years and partied when we were younger but never dated the same guy. She has been married most of the time we have been friends. She has always lived in the county and I've always lived in the city. We really have nothing in common but laugh all the time about how we can't figure out how we have stayed best friends all these years without one fight.

Well if it was artificial sweetener, there sure would be a bunch of people with MS. Especially diet soda drinkers.

I like the hard core sugar from a real Coke or Dr. Pepper. I only use sweetener in my morning coffee.

I glad you and the Neuro got through to your Ma so she will quit ragging on you.
