Does anyone have a problem with muscles twitching and/or jumping? I've had a muscle twitching in my left upper arm and it's about to drive me crazy! I also "jump" in my sleep and it wakes me up. It's never the same muscle twice - sometimes it's my leg, sometimes my arm. It's enough to wake me up - and the cats, too, sometimes!
![]() I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Neurontin and Baclofen I take. I've also been having bad back and leg spasms. Seems like if I take my Neurontin and Baclofen 3X a day then the twitching and jumping gets worse. Can't win for losin'........... ![]()

Talks about these type symptoms and has links for medications and articles at the bottom of the page. There is a stretching for people with MS too; they list stretching with a helper. Just search using their search engine 'Exercise'. I now have these leg jerks when sleeping. I have found doing their short stretching exercises made by therapists helps. Take care. |

I have had this off and on for years. I had it even before I started taking Baclofen. I think, in me, it has more to do with spasticity, but technically these are fasciculations. This freaked out my first MS specialist so much that he sent me for an EMG to rule out ALS!! Apparently, it is a less common sx in MS, but possible.

Kelly,
I have that, too, and it annoys the heck out of me. I wouldn't think it's the Neurontin. I've been on that for 2 yrs now, and my twitching/jerking began about 7 months ago. When my calves start, I tell my DH, "the babies in my legs woke up." It feels the way my abdomen did when I carried the kids. I first got it in my calves, then my thighs, now my arms, too. I don't mind that as much as the spasms; those hurt like heck. I guess stretching would be advised. The problem is when it wakes you up...don't know what you could do about that. Take care, and hope your twitching dissipates soon.

I have it too, and I am not on any meds (except LDN). These years I can see it moving, but it used to be that I only felt it.
I even get it in my eyelid, but can stop it momentarily by pressing on my closed eye. Otherwise it doesn't bother me so much . . . I'm even mildly entertained by it. ![]() Cherie

I get these from time to time too. My hubby had fun watching my left arm spasm once - he said it was cool. So we had a laugh at that.
The most annoying one for me is the one I get in the small of my back. Drives me batty sometimes. ![]() So totally understand where you're coming from with this. ![]()

Nope, never had that sx, Kelly. Although, I have had clonus, when pressing on a nerve...and I've had the crawling feeling...but no jumping.
Sorry that you are experiencing this.. ![]()

My neuro said spasticity and that they are fasciculations, and are a part of spasticity.
He said they are small muscle fibers or groups of fibers that are being affected. That's why sometimes it's like a spider walking and sometimes it's like you're having a baby! ![]() Like Cherie said, at first they used to freak me out. Now I find them amusing, especially when other people can see them. They don't hurt and they roam my body at will. The only one I find annoying is the eye twitching, and like Cherie, I press on the twitch with my eye closed and for some reason it calms it most of the time. They have lessened with Baclofen and Tysabri but they are still there, as is the spasticity. I am not on any other meds except the above, Provigil, calcium, Vit. D, fish oil and a baby aspirin.
