Default sigh

Here in Connecticut the law passed the House and the Senate, but Governor Rell vetoed it! Sigh.

I would love to see a federal overhaul on mj! I can't smoke it anymore...long story, personal choice...BUT...then again, wouldn't an advocate who doesn't smoke it...be a good advocate?

Legalize the stuff for the greater good! Sandy's Jim is a prime example of WHY it should be legal at a federal level! Why should he be limited to where he travels because he can't take his meds with him!

Alright! I'm glad there is a study out there showing that it can stop progression! Best of Luck to all the mj bills accross the states...

This is interesting -- there are actually TWO studies being conducted simultaneiously, CUPID and MUSEC:

I also found this, which details some history on research:

It's not legal anywhere in this country and not likely to be for a long time, if ever.

I wonder if eucalypt leaves would do the same thing??

Default MJ was a legal prescription in the US until Regan...

For those with MS they could get their prescription from their doctor and pick up their joints at the pharmacy. What other illnesses were included I do not know but MS was one of them!

I have a friend who actually received MJ as pills, not joints, as part of his cancer treatment (not sure what State off hand). He said they helped immensely.

I wasn't a huge fan myself of MJ for recreational use, but I did find that when I had severe cramps from my monthly visitor (before I knew I had severe endometriosis), MJ didn't make me 'high', it did completely take away the pain of the cramps I had!

If we're taking this for sx in a controlled amount, I don't think we'd experience such the euphoric effects of it, as those who use it for recreational purposes.

Or I should certainly hope not!

For the record (and if someone else mentioned this, forgive me, I didn't read all the posts)...We here in CA passed a medical MJ law I think 10 years ago (?) and they're still busting the dispensaries and patients. Bottomline: the federal government still has MJ listed as a controlled substance (quantified as dangerous as heroin, if you can believe that!) and the federal government overrules state law. So it won't make any difference if you pass the medical MJ law in Illinois or any other state. We've got to get the federal law changed!
