did you get the stinger out???!!! if the stinger stays in it keeps on stinging!

The baking soda, and mud stuff as they dry pull the poison out and sometimes the stinger.

Drag a credit card across it to flick the stinger out. many say DONT squeeze with tweezers as it will release more poison from the stinger, but dang, as long as you get the sucker OUT!

I've never been stung by a yellow-jacket but my kids were pestered by a bunch in the past. Probably from walking too near their nest and upsetting them. They never got stung either.

Did ya know that yellow-jackets really like fried chicken? We used to sit on the front porch after frying up some chicken and eat it. It was like somebody rang a dinner bell! Yellow-jackets came from all around and would land right on the chicken.

I've only been stung by regular honeybees and the baking soda and water paste always worked for me. Well, once I was stung really bad by wasps. I was visiting my great aunt in Missouri and it was in the fall. The wasps would back their rear ends up to the crack under the front door for the warmth. I went out in sock feet to get the paper and stepped on all of them! OUCH! I lifted up each foot and had a wasp hanging from each toe. Not really fun.

Owwwwww and more Owwwwwwww!!!!! Yellow jackets are the worst!!!! Sure hope you're feeling better by now, it usually takes a few days to get rid of the pain (as if we don't have enough all ready).

As long as we're exchanging bee sting stories..... Summer before last I struggled to get out on my wooden deck off the bedroom to water some plants. Little did I know that wasps/yellowjackets (?) had built a nest under the deck and when some water landed on their house....YIKES.....I could only slide my feet backwards an inch or so at a time and meanwhile I got stung three times on my eyelid right at the lashline, and twice on the inside of my arm. My ex was a beekeeper for awhile and I remember him saying they go for your eyes as they see the movement. So I'm shuffling backward, trying to get my old dog in the house so she doesn't get stung, feeling them stinging me and trying to keep my eyes almost closed. Couldn't even swat at them since I have to hold onto something for dear life with no balance. The meat tenderizer paste took away some of the sting.

Last summer I didn't go out there at all!!! This year had a small ramp made so I can go out in my "chair" and whenever anyone is here, I ask them to check under the deck with wasp spray in hand!! Also bought a couple of those old-fashioned glass bee catchers that you put something sweet in. The stingers crawl in through a hole in the bottom and can't figure out how to get back out!

Kelly -- About lawnmowers and bees of any kind -- from my beekeeper ex. They don't like the big WHOOSH of air that comes out plus of course stepping on the nest didn't help either!! I used to mow our grass all the time. On one occasion I went around the house once, must have been in the flight lane for those "cute" honeybees, and one stung me in the head. After recuperating from that one, went around again ----- another sting!!! That was it!!! I left the lawn mower right where it was and told my ex he's mowing until those bee hives are outa here!!!!!

They attacked our black German Shepherd too, probably thinking he was a bear. Poor guy, had to take him to the vet for shots.

I'm definitely afraid of anything with a stinger!! MS or not -- IT HURTS! Oh, by the way, eventually my ex became allergic to the bee stings and had an anaphalactic shock reaction starting. Needless to say, the bees were sold quickly!!!

Guess that's one good thing about winter!!!

OUCH! Sorry I'm late at seeing this thread, but I'm w/Sal; probably going to have nightmares about bees tonight. Yellow Jackets are mean and when they sting ya, they make a horrendous buzzing noise.

I saw this thread and had to update, I was stung by a yellow jacket about 2 hours ago in the TEMPLE. it hurt SO badly but luckily it was close to the time i had to take my xanax, so i got the stinger out, iced it and then the xanax chilled me out and now it doesnt hurt but i have a huge bump now like i got bitten by 6 misquitoes in one spot.

im glad youre feeling better tho! :)
