I hope this isn't redundant! I've experienced similar symptoms after getting a sunburn usually in combination with an already existing sunburn or when allowing irritants such as salt water to air dry on my skin, etc.
Although I've never found any in depth explanation for why it happens, I think it's reasonable to say with the different types of neuroreceptors embedded in the skin along with local inflammation/heat from the burn it may just be a temporary sensory neuropathy. I have found that taking a Benedryl as directed is very helpful to reduce the symptoms. It seems people are usually laying in bed too when the symptoms are the most annoying.. So luckily Benedryl is a drowsy med. Good luck everyone |
