In particular at the early stage of the disease, drug treatment is effective. Up to now, how-ever, an early diagnosis is frequently not established with certainty, especially if no inflammatory lesions are ...

I wonder how long it will take before it's approved for use?
And what's the chemical compound of this new Gadofluorine M? If it contains Iodine many people won't be able to tolerate it due to allergic reactions to Iodine. But it is good news for advances in MRI Technology!

Thanks for posting that information.
It sounds great, but what about... ... that new blood test they said (and we limbolanders all hoped) was going to detect MS? ...that new kind of scan they said (and we limbolanders all hoped) was going to detect MS? ...that OTHER new blood test that they said (and we limbolanders...)..., etc.? I'm sure this new contrast medium will fulfill its promise of detecting early MS the way all these other things have. With about as much certainty as the long-awaited return of all those socks lost in the dryer. Nancy T. |

You've heard of the forty-niners? Well, Sarah, you and I are the ninety-niners.
![]() That was a very weird year... everyone was worried about being "Year 2000 compliant." I lost my left-side hearing, had an operation on my ear on December 21 which didn't help, and in the end I was NOT "Ear 2000 compliant!" Between my hearing loss and all the other weird symptoms that happened that year (AND my father-in-law getting diagnosed with cancer, AND I can't remember what else...) I thought the Millennium had come early. ![]() Yep, true limbolanders like you and me Sarah, we have earned the privilege of being incorrigibly pessimistic about the possibility of getting diagnosed--or of any doctor even giving a **** about following up. All those implied promises, by new doctors, new tests, etc.... it all counts for nothing. You are lucky if you find something that helps your symptoms. (I did.) Nancy T. |

Well, they do have a blood test for NeuroMyelitis Optica, and when I had that test (it was negative!) the Nurse Practitioner had told me it was a new test that helped them distinguish MS from the NMO. I was glad my test came back negative, since they were thinking about diagnosing me with NMO instead of MS because I had spinal lesions and ON and no real obvious brain lesions.

Hi Erin--that's good if they have a blood test that's good for something! I don't think that was the one I was thinking of, but anyway, I'm glad they were able to rule it out for you.
