Heart Thanks all, you're such a smart and caring group!

Cherie, I think he'd probably pass out his face would get so red!

I think part of my problem is having to make so many trips to the clinic. Ok, so I'll get re-tested and just be thankful I have a PCP I can count on, even though he goes overboard with the tests.

Wiz, do you have your results with you? If you want, I can look at them and see if they are way off. A normal white blood count is around 6-10 depending on the hospital machines and calibration.

BTW, my old cooky doctor is loved and hated in this town. I like him but sometimes I let others tell me bad things and I start questioning myself. BUT, I have been seeing him for over four years and he's never done me wrong or my kids. If anything he's over protective about my sugars. Ask Judy. lol

He makes me come in every three months for blood work. If you miss he calls you and gives you a stern lecture. He's cute when he does that. He even dyed his hair to look younger which I like. It was all snow white and gray. He's been here for 22 years and if he was bad he'd been gone a long time ago I think. He also takes your call right away, no waiting. He wont even let his secretary take a message.

hey I was thinking as some...about keeping the dr...but talking to him...

lets say he wants to order a test, that you dont think is neccesary at the time...you could ask, hey is it ok if we wait on that..maybe do it if you think neccesary at next check up of bloodwork...depending on what the test is however.

Did that make sense hehehehe

good luck with it, but thinking thorough sometimes is good hugss, sarah

Whenever I go to have my blood tested for my thyroid I ask for a full workup. May as well test everything (especially a fasting blood test) at the same time. As long as I have insurance and it pays for it I'm having it done. I'll have it done again in December as my insurance benefits will terminate on 12/31/08 and I'll have to wait until 9/2010 before Medicare kicks in.

I'd rather have a doc who's thorough to the point of being annoying than one who waits till it gets really bad before saying "well, maybe we should have done this or that".

Of course you're right. I need to show this thread to DH. He thinks it's just overtesting to get more money, though they only get a small percentage of what they actually charge since the insurance company cuts it down so much.

That's so true. My doctor said he's lucky to get $7 out of my blood work because of my insurance, Tricare, only pays the allowable charge.

I am tired and haven't read everyone elses post so I may be repeating but Wiz, I am with you I would get sick of it too but I would rather have a doctor test to much than to little!
