Hi all.

Small question for those who have suffered drop foot. Have you ever had it switch sides on you?

My drop foot issues are usually on my right side, but today my left is being the stubborn one. Wondering if this would be chalked up as a new symptom.

I have an appointment with my neuro next week, so that's taken care of. But just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Fin remember this summer everything switched sides on me yet the neuro said there was no new activity, on MRI's.I did ask him how this could be, he said not all lesions are visible, but I also have a rather large on in spinal area he said may of been triggered, perhaps you have one hidden or one that is being active,

I too freaked out I didn't know it could switch sides, so far my permanent damage still seems to be mainly left side but i do have more muscle issues on right side after that flare, so hopefully this shall pass with out any residual effects

Mine is a permanent fixture of dead weight on my left, but every now and then the right one does get uncooperative. It's pretty scary. I know a couple people have gone to AFOs on both feet, so far, I've been able to avoid that joy.

Mine started on the left - been that way with AFO for about 15 years but now I'm noticing that my right foot does the same slop foot thing - it doesn't walk right - the foot just plops down - I don't want to go to two AFO's either - hard enough to pick my left foot up - with two AFO's I will probabally just stand there and lean in the direction I'm headed !!

it's usually my right ankle that collapses outward, and my right foot that's floppy.

but about 15% of the time, presto-chango, my left side goes all wonky on me.

so, I have two AFOs.

very simple ones, soft cloth, with a bit of hard plastic side-bracing, and velcro closures, pretty easy to deal with.

the AFOs even fit inside most of my shoes.

I only wear them when I have to go out, and walk more than two hundred yards, that's when it kicks into gear, as I grow more tired.

it's especially 'active' if I have a virus or bacterial infection at the time.

Thanks everyone. Nice to know I'm not alone with the wackiness. Still been a little off on my left, which has thrown me for a loop a little. Definitely not used to it.

Guess that side was tired of being ignored, LOL
