Help those who have had ON

Do you still have troubles now and again?

I had ON, it led to my DX. No I am having some vision problems. Blurred, some slight double vision to one side (same as with the ON) sore sockets, spots or floaters, and eye strain and fatigue.

Just had eye exam in Aug and vision had not changed (I wear glasses to drive and see far away)

But last week or so having issues again somewhat like the ON was. I really notice it when say....working on paper work at my desk and look outside then back down at desk...man...blurr and pain.

Or even when sitting on couch with laptop reading, look up at tv 5 foot away then back down at screen...wow....killer.

(doesnt matter if glasses are on or off....does the same thing.....)

Just wondered if "ON" is returning its ugle head or if its something else?
Wondered if others have issues with eyes after having DX with "ON"?

Thanks for the input......

Yes to the "I've had ON" part....many, many times unfortunately.

If you're having problems now, it's always possible that you may be having a reoccurrence. Blurred or double vision always needs investigating FFM, but the sore spots could obviously be put down to eye strain, and floaters are perfectly normal....just about everybody has them.

My first symptom with ON "attacks" has always been severe sharp pain on movement of the affected eye, but everyone is different, and not everyone gets eye pain.

My only long standing left over symptom now is the continuation of that eye pain. It's become a chronic nerve pain but luckily my doctors are treating it accordingly. I wonder myself whether the fact that I've been hit with ON so many times now that the myelin has become eroded on that optic nerve. JMHO.

FFM,

I'd pretty much echo what Koala said. I've now had four bouts of ON since 2002 - three in my left eye, one in my right. I'm currently having the sharp, stabbing eye pain and some blurriness in my right eye on occasion and of course, I'm trying to ignore it and chalk it up to eye strain from reading by flashlight for a week when we had no power. I have a follow-up visit to my optometrist on Monday so I'll be discussing it with him if it's still acting up.

You might want to consider a trip to the doctor, just to be safe.

both my eyes bother me after ON, i had it in both.. lost a little vision in the left one and it is always a bit blurry.. and the right one came back to so close to 100% i cant tell..

anyway i do have pain now and then, extra blurry vision, pain, fireworks, black spots out of the corner of my eye, ect. but they usually only happen if i get really hot, anxious, or i have pushed myself to far. and the symptoms are never consistent..

like say i will have 4 days of pain in one eye.. but it is short little bursts of pain that may last for 10min then gone and may come back in 3hrs then gone again.. not a 24/7 pain like it was with my real ON attacks.. if that made sense.

IMHO if it has to do with your eyes and it bothers you for more then 24hrs.. its worth it to go see a DR just to be safe.

You could be getting a new attack of ON.. Go see your opthalmologist and get them to check it out.

I am going to ask tho, are you taking any new medications? Some medications can cause vision problems. So, you might want to check into that too if your on something new. (I just quit a med that can cause blurry vision. I can see now!)

When I get sick, with a cold, it almost always seems to 'settle' in my eyes. I get blurry vision and some eye pain, nothing major, but I notice it.

Also, if I get overtired, it's my eyes that seem to get tired or I get headaches behind my eyes.

Of course, it doesn't seem to show up on tests anymore, but I still feel the remnants of my ON flares. I also have a spot in my vision that never goes away. Whether that's from the ON or growing older, who knows, all I know is that it's there and not going anywhere.

Sorry to hear that your eyes are acting up for you. Hope you feel better soon.

Pain in eye = doctor time

Every bout I had included pain.

Ongoing sx do not include pain with me.

Go see your Doc!

Me too. I can tell when it hits. My eye(s) will feel like someone is stabbing me in the eye socket with an icepick that's been heated and they're swirling it around in my eye. Any eye movement makes me want to scream.

I really hate that.

It tells me that I need to call the neuro and the ophthalmologist and have them get together to decide to not give me any steroids and let it resolve on it's own.
