Default Thar she blows!!!!

Both my patience and my water pipe. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

I have surely past the point of insanity. This morning I woke to a small trickle of water sound, I look above my master bedroom shower and about a 6x4 foot section of ceiling and wall are yellow, and bubbling. I called a neighbor who is one of my best friends and he came over, said, you have a bad leak in your ceiling. Keep in mind- Phoenix- Summer/fall we haven't had any measurable rainfall in months.

We have a pool. the pool has solar panel water heaters on our roof, those panels broke last spring and we turned them off, but apparently they still had water in them, when we turned them off we had the company come out to estimate a repair, since they have a lifetime warranty and are only 10 years old. the comany said since we are not the original owners, we are not covered, to replace it would be about $2,400, we said, forget it, turn them off completely, eventually we will remove them and let the sun do it's job.

Well, I have not done any more checking but since that is the point in the roof where the panels are, we assume that is what is happening,

NEED I REMIND YOU HOW MUCH I D-O-N'T NEED THIS?? on top of that, when I came back inside, my big screen tv is now dead, wont do anything.

I am d o n e. f i n i s h e d .

I know in comparrisson to problems other are having around here I have nothing major to vent about, I hope you don't mind my little rant.

To me this sounds like a big thing to rant about. You have water leaking into your ceiling, and now your tv has died. These are not little things.

They're just different things.

I hope you can get the water problem taken care of quick, before you start a fungus farm in the bathroom.

Oh Earl....I'm sorry for the problems. It's all relative.....they are big problems when they're happening to you. It'd be easy for me to say "well, it can't be that bad......but I'm not the one looking at a $2400 repair bill. Or replacing a television. BTW....my big screen is seven years old and it has been flickering a bit lately. I'm just waiting for it to bite the dust. I'll just move the 36" in from the den and use that one in the living room. No more big expenditures for me!!

Ooo Water problems

Well Earl, sorry to start the reply with well ( water problem ) ok not funny. I'm trying to pick up your spirits with maybe a smile. I also would have to believe that your insurance should cover the damage to your house maybe not the panels but you weren't using them anyhow. But who am i to say a well is a pretty deep subject.

Earl -

When you say you turned them off, do you mean you closed the isolation valves to the lines going to and from your roof?

In my experience, 10 year old valve seats on cheap bronze valves typically leak by after a few years... Cut the pipe and cap the lines. Or buy a gallon of roof cement and go trowel over the area where the panels are attached at the roof. Better yet, re-flash the penetrations.
