Update:

Neuro said no more MRI's unless I want one. He said it is not medically necessary which I am sure Medicare and Aetna would agree.

He said the best he can do at this time is offer meds for symptoms (not just yet thanks) and he is sending me information on PPMS.

Guess that is a diagnosis?

Usually every 3 years, but only 2 since last one, might start Tysabri next year (save $2500). Like the new machines, large donut instead of tube and much quieter. Easier to almost fall asleep.

You'll be visiting the MRI a lot more frequently than every 3 years once you start Tysabri! Good thing you have the same reaction to it that I do (falling asleep).

How often do you have an MRI while on Ty? I'll have been on it a year in April, but I've been having an MRI every year about March. I have 2 insurances, so that helps with the cost.

If I am stable my neuro has me have one every two years.

AZJanie, how does your family view you donating your body to science? My sister has arranged that and some of my family is freaking out. She is having her body used as a cadaver for med students. They will be awfully busy with hers with as many medical problems as she has had.

I thought donating your body to science was really gross but I changed my mind when I got to thinking about funeral costs ($10,000.00 plus gravesite) and our families so far away I changed my mind.

Our best friends asked if we would sign a paper as witnesses so they could pre-arrange to have their bodies donated to science (after death).

I mentioned it to another friend and she said that's what they did with her Dad when he passed. Her Dad died at home and they just made a phone call, a rep came to get the body and they received 7 death certificates.

Two weeks later a limo pulled up out in front of their home. Two well dressed men came with a box containing cremains along with a paper which read what the findings were (optional if you don't want to know).

The men asked if they could say a prayer for him and left. No charge for any of this. It is really dignified and nice and so much easier emotionally as there is no funeral viewing etc which I don't want. It's just like they are going on vacation but not coming back.

Thanks for your explanation Janie. My Mom is really flipping out over no funeral and showing. She knows we can have a memorial service and on the back of my parents headsone is written all their childrens names. So we can actually put flowers on my parents grave for my sister. But finances was the main reason my sis decided to do this.
