Wiz, Hoping you are feeling better soon. I am also allergic to penicillin and sulfa drugs.

Wiz, as you know Jim has had reactions to both of those meds. For him it was a matter of timing I suppose because he can now take Bactrim and Macrobid with no troubles. His reaction to Macrobid was stomach upset and nausea from not eating so make sure you eat before taking it. He had thrush with Bactrim but does fine now.

I agree with Snoopy that your symptoms do sound like a UTI and not the flu. I pray you feel better fast! UTI's suck the life out of you.

I think you might be right. I took one Macrobid and one ibuprofen three hours ago and I feel a let better already!

I also dont think flu...think sxs were a mix of the UTI..and then maybe part of the allergic reaction...glad you will be on a new med...hugsss good luck dear, sarah

I just got up about a half hour ago, and just had my second Macrobid so if this works I should be back to normal* soon.

Just be careful with the UTI and Macrobid. I used to get a lot of UTIs when younger. My PCP put me on Bactrim, I ended up allergic. Then he put me on Macrobid. The dang things kept coming back. I finally went to a urologist.

He said that he didn't understand why docs kept giving Macrobid to patients that had several UTIs over a 6-8 month period. He said it doesn't really clear up the problem in many many patients. I became a Cipro gal after that. In fact, he gave me a standing prescription for a year at a time. This was 20 years ago!

Never did get UTIs much after that, only once every 2-4 years rather than 3-4 a year! So, if you get through with your Macrobid, and another UTI creeps up in the few months after, get CIPRO instead of another Macrobid. It may not work for you.

I'm feeling great today Sandy! The macrobid must be doing its job. I have a script of something else to take after this if necessary (forget the name, my neuro's office called it in).

Yesterday my allergies were driving me nuts because I had stopped taking Nasonex for the winter. I think I'm going to need it year round because of Rocky. He likes to sit on my lap a lot and also sleep by me.
