Default Forgetting my pills or am I?

Well, I have decided it is time to get a pill box. I am having a hard time remembering if I took my pill or not. You would think that wouldn't be hard to remember but sometimes I just don't.

I guess it is time to purchase a pill box and start putting them in it so when I can't remember if I took them or not I can just look.

I hate to think that at 40 I have to do such a thing but I guess giving in to my stupid memory issues is better than either going without or taking to many!

Just another stepping stone in this process of MS

Listen honey!
There ain't no shame in using a pill box! It's just another tool!

I have a bunch of them, with very big compartments, because the man has so many meds to keep track of. I use them now too! It's so much easier to set them up at the beginning of the week (or month, as I do) You can look at the container and immediately KNOW whether you took that pill or not so there is NO questioning your own memory!

Hannaford usually has a few at the pharmacy counter for free. Grab one next time you are there or ask at whatever place you get your drugs from, or even ask your doc for one. They have PILES of them in their sample closets yanno!

(((Char))) Don't worry, I have done this plenty. Just the other day I went to take my abx, popped the pill, and the realized I just doubled up on my Neurontin. Needless to say, I took a 3 hour nap that day. LOL

RW is right, it is just another tool to help us out. I think even "healthy" people make these kinds of mistakes. To make you smile think . . . "The Whooooops Baby." LOL

I don't have a pill box but I do have a check list that I have come to depend on. If I am not sure, I just look at the check list. It works for me.

Thanks Trish, I did the same thing the other night but it was my pain med. I took that istead of my antibiotic that I was on for my Sinus infection after dinner and then an hour later took it again for that is when I take it normally. Boys did I sleep well that night! The next morning I was suppose to take my last antibiotic and saw there were two instead of one!

I say, whatever works,Char. There's no shame in that. Better that than taking too much or fogetting to take your meds.

We use pill boxes so don't you feel bad at all. Jim takes meds three times a day so we must use them to be sure he's taking them and not taking doubles if he forgets. We use the weekly ones that have four times on the box. I fill them up every Friday for the week. I love that so I am not passing out pills everyday.

I started using one last year. Plus I have a cute little one for my purse with extra neurontin and baclofen in it in case I am out when I am scheduled to take one.

Hi Char!

At home I use an ice cube tray with 16 compartments. I fill it with each morning med and vitamin and cover it with a 1 gallon plastic bag. I keep it in the kitchen drawer. I like it because I can fit all the pills in it and don't have to refill it as often. I also have a big pill holder for the days that I work. I fill that the same time as the ice cube tray so I get 23 days worth before I have to do it again.

I keep a little ramekin cup in the drawer with the ice cube tray. The night before I take one day's worth of pills out of the tray and put them in the cup. Then I take them in the morning after breakfast.

On work days I can't eat until I get to the office so then I use the pill holder.

It empties before the ice cube tray so I refill it from that and use until both are empty and need to refill in 23 days.

The reason I can't eat until after breakfast is that I take a Nexium when I wake up with a glass of water and have to wait an hour before I have anything else to eat or drink.

This works well for me since I take so many pills.

At night I only take one pill now so I just keep that bottle on the counter and take one right before I go to bed.

Oh, GOOD idea on the ice cube tray Wiz!

I had to search for pill holders large enough for all the old man's meds. We finally got 8 of them from his doc, they are 7 sided and the compartments hold a LOT of pills, about an inch and a half deep and an inch and a half wide. I do 4 for day pills and 4 for night pills. I'm not sure what drug co. gave them to the doc, but on the bottom it says "Apothecary Products, Inc. Minneapolis, MN" They have a website and they have a LOT of different stuff to help with keeping track of meds! Click below.
http://apothecaryproducts.dirxion.com/Main.asp
There's a bunch of pages and they have a LOT of options, for those of you who need locking pill packs, pill packs that don't slide, easy open, etc, etc.
