That Momma can make lemonade or squirt life in the eyes with those lemons. You never know what Momma's gonna do.

Default no more stained glass

I lost use of my left hand, and with it my ability to do stained glass. i truly enjoyed doing it for many years. that put me into a long depression.

i am trying to figure out a way to transition over to mosaics so that i dont lose the glass work entirely. my husband says he will try to learn and help when he retires so we can work together.

it is cruel how this disease picks away at us and takes away some of the thing we love most.

Well, I did send her the painting she wanted...she loves it although I see the mistakes. I am thinking of trying another pencil portrait...those are hardest...If you screw up a landscape you can always add a tree or something to cover for the mistake.

I can't cut shapes out anymore so I bought a Cricut...did you know that necessity is the mother of creation.

So don't give up creating...just find a different way to create...art is the soul of what life is made, creating the art is the life of the soul.

momma glad she like the painting, I say this suggestion, not in a way of acceptance or succumbing to the MS but to maybe help allow you more quality time for your hand, you like to paint and write, and do so well on writing. what if you used a program for the writing like a dragon speak program , am sure some others will know the programs name. you speak and the pc transcribes it for you thus allowing more energy for your hand to paint, this way you can do both still, just thinking out loud and without coffee

Twink & Kitty...I have been told often to write a book and I've actually started...I read Maria Perna's(sp) 'Dare To Dream' a few years after my diagnosis.

She actually encouraged me to write, and a very special board buddy sent me the names of a few publishers.

Frank, I know the name of the program you are speaking about. Its a 'stubborn' southern thang.lol

Well I know exactly how you feel, I have no use of my right side and the left is on its way somewhere. I use that Dragon program and it works pretty good. Just doesnt help with fishing.

I almost gave up fishing, but adjusted by switching sides of reels. Also looking into getting a fishing belt, kind of goofy looking for fresh water but who cares if it works. Given up alot of things, but no way am I giving up fishing.

Yesterday I got so frustrated with this numbness while redoing my website, I quit and smashed my left hand with a book, it didnt help lol.

Hope yours is just temp, because mines been constant for 2 years almost. Just have to live with it and adjust.

You are a fighter, that is good.

I used to love to fish, but I hated to take a fish off the hook. I was always afraid I would hurt it. Then, I read about crimping the barbs back and making barbless hooks. What a relief, for me and the fish.

I know how frustrating it can be.....my right hand/arm has been numb since October 2007. I kept thinking it would go away but I think now it's permanently damaged. I've learned to do a lot with my left hand including writing that's even legible (at times ). I still make myself use my right hand but I'm very, very careful when doing so and I never depend on it for anything.

You're right, though. We adjust to it. Most times I don't even notice it....unless it's hurting which it does after a long day of trying to make it be useful. I refuse to allow it to take away everything from me. I will just learn a new way of doing what I want to do.

If anything, this has taught me to be even more patient with myself and tolerant of others who have challenges.
