Sorry to hear of your fall. My neuro asks at visits if I've fallen. I would definitely mention it next time you go unless it persists. Then call. I'm curious...what is the exercise you found that is good for foot drop?

Sorry to hear you splatted, Fin.
I did it once INSIDE of the revolving front door at Mass General Hospital just after lunch! Some *&^%$#@ guy actually tried to PUSH the door while I was down inside the sectional of the door! I gave him a few choice words and he backed off quickly. I got scrapes and bruises, along with an ego bash, and my Dad started laughing and asked if I expected him to carry me! (we were there for his radiation treatment)

No one came, no one stopped to help me. I had to unfold myself from that sectional and stand up and finish going through the door. There was a doorman and a bunch of EMS workers standing less than twenty feet away and they didn't even move to help.

I often wondered if I should have filed a lawsuit! The entry was slippery from rain and when I hit it I just sort of slid into the section and down I went! I just figured that they would say I fell because I had MS and not because their doorway was dangerous!

Wow River..:( That's exactly why the EMS guys and Hosp personel didn't come to your aid.....they would be admitting you may be hurt. You should have sued the Bas....hful guys..:D

It's basically a towel stretch. A friend of mine who's a PT suggested it. Worth a shot. :Dunno:

Loop a towel in a U shape around the foot. Push with foot and pull with arms. Can be done either sitting in a chair if you have enough balance, or sitting on the floor.

Knowing my luck, I'm gonna whack the cats with the towel a couple of times - LOL! :D

Sorry about your fall Fin. I had a bad one at one time. Walking
on the sidewalk where I used to live.

I was walking and the next thing I new I was flat on the ground
It seemed that my right foot didn't do what it was supposed to do.
There I had 3 women standing there and saying "are you allright"

No one helping. Got myself up and went home. My glasses were crooked.
The next day I had a black&blue mark on my cheek and a cut on my
nose.
I fell hard on my chest and till this day I still get pains on my left side
Went to drs. but they say they cannot find anything.

The little body antics that we do because of this darn MS to entertain
the ignorant people of this world who look at you like you 'WHAT'S SHE DOING "

Jappy :o

I had to laugh when I read sitting on the floor. If I get down on the floor, I have en extremely hard time getting up. It's comical. Maybe the cats can help :)

Jenn, Jim used rubber bands for that exercise. You can buy them at Walmart in the exercise section or any exercise store like Sports Authority. They come in different strengths if the towels don't work out.

You know it's funny I will be walking along and go splat all of the time. Always attributed it to being clumsy. It has gotten much worse lately. At least once a week I tumble down the stairs. It is so embarrassing. And you can't help but laugh at yourself. My fiance came home from work the other day and he walks in the door (at the bottom of stairs) right as my leg decided to stop working, so I come bouncing/ sliding down the stairs and land right at his feet. He was kind enouh to help me up but of course followed up by telling me I really have to stop drinking all day while he is at work. :D Sometimes I think it is God's way of reminding us we needed a good laugh. It also reminds me things can always be worse I can be angry my legs momentarily gave up but imagine if they didn't work at all.

Hope your'e not too sore; as Yappy said, it's usually the next day when the pain sets in. Take care!!

I'd give you a perfect 10. Because that's the kind of guy I am.

Sandy, I'll keep that in mind about the rubber bands. Cool idea.

Legz, my hubby's a joker too. He's the one who calls me wiley coyote. :D
