Thank you Cherie for digging up that info. I was going to point that out, but didn't have the energy to go looking. I can't believe her old neuro thought a mere dosepak would do ANYTHING!!!

Even when I have done oral steroids, it was never a dose pack. It was 600 mg to 1000 mg per day - more similar in dose to the IVSM. My current neuro says that might be fine for some people with just sensory issues, but prefers the IVSM for me because he feels it is more effective for vision / mobility problems.

What is the diff between being a dose pack and not, just being a high dosage?

I've had dose packs of both prednisone and methylprednisolone (mp is the lower dose of the two) - both way lower than what you've had, but can't recall exactly, just a few mgs.

When he did do the IVSM back in nov, he had me on a full gram a day for 5 days, which made me sick as a dog. Then he followed it with the mp dose pack which did nothing for the lovely withdrawals my body went through and then the last 3 times he has put me on the same mp dose pack at a whopping 4 or 40mg? My body laughed at this. The only effect I got from it was a little less sleep and a nasty taste in my mouth.

Oh and Wiz, you were right! Good call! They cannot charge my new neuro to request them. I am going down today to sign off on the paperwork.

I had a mild case of ON years ago and it resolved on it's own. I was lucky, never to have it again.

that was a good idea about the records.

if a pt requests a lot of medical records they will charge you to copy them.
one way i get around that is to go into any specialist visit with a SSAE and ask them to mail me the dictation. that way my files are up to date and it's free.

i also request my labwork and my PE from my pcp. anything important i get the records.
