Default ?collection of symtoms

I have a set of symptoms that are yet undiagnosed. I am 40 yrs old, female, dx with Graves disease 5 yrs ago, treated with radioactive iodine now take synthroid. Over past few years have bouts of intense fatigue, profound weakness, muscle and joint pain and stiffness. There are days I can barely get out of bed or get up the stairs. Bouts usu come on suddenly, last day or two or sometimes a week. When I am fine, I am energetic, exercise regulary, some pain but not bad. I havent really pursued anything yet. I am a RN and not a very good patient. Anyone have similar symptoms with diagnosis?
Thanks so much!

Hey Jule,

Well, I'm no doc or RN, just a patient who does her research!

I think you need to go see a really good primary care physician. Get a new one if you don't trust the one you have. A great relationship with this doctor will ride you through all your weird set of symptoms.

Peace.

Hi, Julie. I agree with the Bird. Being a nurse, you know that these sx are quite general and could fit a number of things. And even with my MS dx, I will tell you that my PCP completely helped put me a better path than the one on which I was first traveling!

Good luck to you -- I hope you get answers soon.

I agree w/others, not to jump to any conclusions, like that it must be ms or anything else. But you asked who had your symptoms, and what dx they had, so...

I will say that I have some of your symptoms and my docs thought I had ms (I have brain lesions but no other tests confirm ms) - they still do then don't at times. I was dx'd with C spine problems and syringomyelia.

When they first found the syrinx, the neuro did not think that could contribute to my sx - muscle pain in shoulders, upper back, legs, joint pain in hips. They said it might be fibro.

My pain drs do think the syrinx is what's causing those sx though. It's a rare disorder, so I don't know if anyone is really sure, but I kind of think they are right (the pain drs, that is).

Whether the syrinx has anything to do with the extreme fatigue or not is up in the air.

Just so you know, I was tested and do not have lymes, lupus, or RA, among other things.

Hi Jule, and welcome to Neurotalk and the MS forum. This is a great place to hang out with lots of friendly people.

I have fatigue and muscle spasms, plus a number of other things. I was diagnosed with MS in the early 1990's. As you know, there are so many symptoms that could or couldn't be MS-related.

I agree wit the Bird. Get yourself a really good PCP and go from there. Best of luck to you.
