I'm sorry the antibiotics are not doing their job. I hope today you're feeling better. If not, take another day off from work and hopefully you can get something that will know this out of you.

Please add some licorice to your routine. The black stuff. it will help thin out some of that mucus, and make it easier to cough up. Hydration is super important. drink drink drink, (water sweetie, sorry) PLEASE do as lady asks and add a PRO biotic to your routine. read the label on some yogurts, and get LIVE/ACTIVE cultures, or get the pill kind. Keep it in the fridge. I agree, it sounds like your antibiotic isnt working. if you have been on that one many many times, your body may have adjusted to it, and you may have developed a resistance to it. a Zpack should put that sucker on the run. REST! hot showers, let that b/f give you a nice massage to help those muscles relax, so you can sleep. Elderberry is great, but only for a couple of days to help you over that hump.

I hope you feel better quick.

See your doctor. Not sure, but aren't antibiotics for infection and flu is viral which antibiotics can't help? Or has virus caused secondary infections which those antibiotics aren't helping? Knowing doctor switches my antibiotics as ones she prescribes before the test is back is not the right ones. I think, ask youtr doctor.

Deijou is right. Antibiotics kill off bacteria, but some is good bacteria in the bowel (antibiotics always constipate me) or the "good: bacteria in the vaginal tract that help prevent infection there. There are andropoupillas (spelling???) in a pill that doctor had my son take after a regime of antibiotics and yogurt with active enzymes (Activia, etc.) that help regulate you. Wiyth my kids went through stuff so this is from 15 years ago.

AW that stinks Laura~ Hope your AB kicks in soon and you can kick the crud to the door. I have had to go on a second AB before, as there are a couple that simply don't work on me. *e-mycin is one of them*

There has been so much of that crud going around lately and seems like it's hitting people hard.

Hey Dej?? What is in the black licorice that helps?? You've got me intrigued.

Get well Laura!!!

Black licorice helps thin mucous and helps make it easier to secrete. not sure how or why, just know its an old native trick.

Dej, I didn't know about the licorice. That's really interesting I'll have to go out tomorrow and get some if this isn't settled down.

I went to work today, worked my full shift. Felt like heck. Plus we are having a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE snowstorm.

I do have probiotics here.. and have been taking them Plus I eat soy yogurt mmm. I don't like those side effects of antibiotics. Been there, don't want to go there again!

I can't take eurythromycin either, or biaxin, but no problems with the cillins. Go figure right?

Thank you everyone for the get better wishes... we'll see what tomorrow brings

Ok, so I got a prescription for another antibiotic today (couldn't get to the doctor yesterday... should have seen the weather here, 35 CM of snow).

Never taken this one before, but it's called Suprax (which is Cefixime). 10 tablets and taken once a day. Pretty expensive compared with the other antibiotic choices, but I have excellent coverage so I didn't have to pay anything for it.

Go probiotics and yogurt!

Doctor was nice too, wrote me a note excusing me from work all week, but I'm going back Thursday unless I have some crazy severe reaction to this stuff in the meantime.
