Do you have anything special you do? Any tried and true tricks to help you deal with the heat?
It's not even officially summer yet and it's already 90 degrees here! ![]() ![]() Just wondering what everyone else does....besides hibernate inside in the A/C! ![]()

That's what I do. LOL Like you, we have about 8 months of heat.
I do all my errands early in the morning or after the sun goes down as it is cooler in the mornings and after the sun sets. However, as summer goes on it stays hotter in the evenings and the mornings vary more. I do take lots of cool showers during this time and that helps. I keep some of the ice packs that come with my Copaxone and use them as needed when I am out and about. The sun is intense here so the car can heat up quickly to over 120 degrees in a matter of minutes. Using the ice while the a/c gets going in the car helps quite a bit. I also use a sun visor on my windshield to keep the blazing sun off the off the windshield. A cactus doesn't provide much shade. LOL Here in the desert, we go from a/c to a/c. ![]() |

I take a frozen wash cloth with me. I wipe my face and neck when I am getting hot, and that helps me get from point A to point B. I like those mister fans. You can get a handheld one. I find the water helps cool me off faster. I duck from shady spot to shady spot. I plan my errands in the early AM when its cooler, or the very late afternoon when its not so unbearably hot. The AM is better since not so many folks are out. Then, I go home and hide in the AC.

I'm afraid the news isn't much better, here, Kell.
![]() ![]() LDN helps a bunch. I just posted as much in the LDN thread, but I still must stay in the A/C, for the worst of it. ![]()

I found those neck scarves do more for me than the vests, so have a collection of those. Misting fans and early morning trips are also right up there.
If I get too hot, it's time for a tepid bath to bring my body temp down. I'd do the cold shower thing, but if I'm that hot too wobbly to stand in the shower. For hiding, a/c and ceiling fans are my friends ![]()

I've noticed that the heat really only gets me bad if I seem to be in a flare.
That doesnt mean that it doesnt suck the life out of me, just that I'm capable of getting around in the heat for a little longer when I'm not in a flare. I sit outside with my parents in the afternoon a lot, even when the sun is blasting down. Then I come back into the house and descend into my basement, where the temperature in my room can be 10 degrees cooler than what the upstairs thermostat claims. (65 degrees in the basement when the a/c upstairs is set for 74) I crochet and knit enough that if I start to feel really cold in my basement in the summer, I grab a shawl or two that I've crocheted and use that to keep warm. Time to go worship the a/c duct in my bedroom ceiling. While covered in blankies. I need a nap.

Hibernate for the most part here too. We also take a umbrella with us when out in the sun. Buy a HUGE one so it covers you well.
