I am going to try it once I am off neurontin. I am only going to take 10mg for the first five days, and then slowly increase it up to 30 mg if I can tolerate it. And I am taking it at night. |

Hi Barb,
I took Elavil many years ago for sleep/depression issues. I was on it for about 7 months. I was not on a high dose - -wish I could remember what it was. Maybe 10 or 20 mg.? Don't be surprised if it makes you severely constipated so you may want to start doing fiber. I also gained 20 lbs. on it which I lost when I went off it and started exercising. Anyhow, good luck. I'm sorry you are feeling so cruddy these days and I hope you feel better soon. ![]() Natalie

I took amitriptyline for insomnia. Helped for a couple of months (didnt always take it every night) and then one day it just quit working.
It made me feel really weird, and it took me about a week to get off of it. I hated the way it made me felt, and getting off of it sucked mightily (I'd been taking it every day for a month or two the last couple of months I was using it)
