....carbs and sugar, at least temporarily. I had bloodwork done to see how my cholesterol was, and everything came back within normal ranges.
HOWEVER, when I started looking over the results line by line, I noticed that my blood sugar was 97. Over 100 is considered pre-diabetic. Practically everyone in my family has diabetes, and I am NOT going there. Having that on top of MS would be the last straw! So I'm trying a low carb/sugar diet for a while. I know that's where my weakness is - I love starchy foods of any kind - and I eat way more than I should. When I've done low carb before, I lost weight without really having to work too hard, so maybe I'll drop a few pounds along the way. That can't hurt anything either! But I REALLY, REALLY miss my pasta, garlic toast, potatoes au gratin, rice.......

Major diet changes are tough
![]() It is highly limiting in what I can and can't eat, but at the end of the day I feel so much better.

Dietary changes can be so tough on you emotionally. Make sure you give yourself some goodies that are not food. A walk, a book, some music, or just time to meditate.
When my DD was dx with celiac, it just felt so cruel to deny her the many things she loved, and used to comfort herself with. As time marched by, and she saw how much better she felt, it got easier. We tried hard to help her self comfort as she adjusted. hang in there. ![]()

Hi msarkie,
I wish you lots of luck on your new diet. ![]() Did you fast 12 hours before the last blood work? I am sure you did if your lipids were tested. I stopped salt in my store bought foods, and make most my own bread and other foods, not using any salt, or other things I am allergic to, in the recipes. Now if I take even one potato chip with salt on it, I feel like I have sand between my teeth and it burns my tongue. Like a salt factory. You will get used to missing the foods you once enjoyed. Good luck. ![]()

The good thing is that your taste buds will change, and all that junk food will taste lousy after awhile. It doesn't take too long. After Husband had his heart attack, his tastes changed in less than a month. Since then, it's been much easier. Try to think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet, and if you're really craving something, have some. You may find that it doesn't taste that good after all.
That being said, I don't know what I'd do without garlic!!! By the way, why is garlic on your "don't have" list? I always thought it was very healthy.
