I swam a mile this morning. I loved it :)

Keep on moving people! It does help!

pud's friend 08-24-2009 07:32 PM

I chased a herd of sheep into a trailer. (Sounds easier than it inevitably is).
Damned stupid sheep. That's my exercise for the day.

ewizabeth 08-24-2009 11:09 PM

I did my two Winsor Pilates workouts today, ab blaster and thigh smashers, lol. Total of 40 minutes but very effective if done regularly. :)

Tomorrow will be B ball again, maybe for 30 minutes this time.

sabimax 08-25-2009 05:29 AM

woohoo Wiz, and all...

sheep herding I bet can be very much a great workout... those silly sheep!!

hugss all

checking in, been doing the dizzy out problem... but still going... last night walked the golf course a bit, we took the two little ones.. so I did not golf and instead ran around the course with the little ones...haha

hugss,sarah

PF, the last time we had to chase all the goats around at my in-laws' ranch trying to separate out the young ones for banding, we decided that we needed to ranch those Pigmy Fainting Goats instead so that we could just walk into the pasture, clap our hands real loud, and then pick up the one we wanted after they all fainted...

BBS1951 08-25-2009 03:28 PM

Fun animal stories pud and TxBatman. I used to have goats, chickens and pigs, but never got far enough to add sheep to the mix :) Those critters are a lot of (hot) work!

Hi sabi golf girl :Good job :)
Wiz: yay for you and the Pilates :)

I swam a mile this morning and I loved it :)

Dejibo 08-25-2009 04:34 PM

I did not take a walk today. I decided since I had shopping to do, that would be enough exercise. I really should get back to walking, I that the husband is wondering if I've quit. I live on a pretty street, but the heat and humidity make it impossible for me. I did a lot of walking in the grocery store, and the department store. That will have to do for today.

Maybe tomorrow I'll start walking again:rolleyes:

ewizabeth 08-25-2009 04:36 PM

Ok, scratch the B ball for today, I got a late start and it was warm out. Instead I went for a 20 minute bike ride and tried to stay in the shadier neighborhoods. I try to really push myself so my heart gets going good. My legs get a good workout too. I got my daily dose of vitamin D from the sun as well. Maybe basketball tomorrow if I can get going earlier.

I also really, really need to clean house too. :o That in itself is a workout, especially when I get going at a fast clip, lol. It's very easy for me to get distracted and get off task when cleaning though. :o

Now yard work, if it's nice out, I can focus on, imagine that, lol.

Erin524 08-25-2009 10:57 PM

The gym I go to is air conditioned, the other night when I got warm it was weird. It was like almost 10pm, there were maybe 3 or 4 other people in there (one being my dad, maybe a couple of other gym patrons and the guy at the front desk to checks memberships.)

It was really warm and muggy in there then. Today when I went, people were practically fighting over the machines (yay! I got my favorite end of the row treadmill!) and it was kind of cold in there. (not that I'd complain about that)

Of course, today's humidity wasnt as nasty.

I want to go swimming, but they have such nasty fluorescent lights in the pool area that I end up wanting to rip my eyeballs out by the optic nerves thru my nose. Why do these places have to use such craptastic lighting sources? At least the treadmill area is right next to the big east facing windows (which is nice in the afternoons...no hot sun blasting me, and no nasty artificial light)

Today I had a different problem on the treadmill. Perfumes!!

Several girls got on the treadmills next to me, trying to kill me with the copious amounts of perfume they marinated themselves in this morning when they went to work...and they were wearing competing scents. It's like getting maced! and then when they were gone, some guy came over, wearing a wife beater t-shirt (a pink peachy color) and sweats, with a scent emanating from his body that reminded me of Hai Karate aftershave and unwashed personal areas  that probably hadnt seen soap in days.:eek::eek: Which probably explained the Hai Karate-like scent. He was trying to cover up his laziness at dealing with his bodily hygiene. (oh, yay...look at that...my half hour's up! gotta go!!!)

I hate perfumes...especially in the gym.

At least I got my half hour of walking, and I actually sped the treadmill up a little bit more than I usually do. Hope that I dont regret that later. I need to get a refill of baclofen soon.

Dejibo 08-26-2009 08:59 AM

I walked one mile this morn, before the humid stuff started. I was dragging, and I am out of shape from being on my butt for so many weeks, but I did it!

TXBatman 08-26-2009 12:14 PM

Spin class again last night...64 mins, max HR 90% of max, avg 78%, 898 calories burned.

tkrik 08-26-2009 02:07 PM

Walking weather is coming. I can feel it (maybe it's just my wishful thinking lol). Once the mornings become a little cooler I will start back up on my daily walks. I can't wait.

Did my stretching exercises this morning as I do most mornings.

sabimax 08-26-2009 03:45 PM

maybe a walk tonight, or yoga... one or the other, cooler tonight, might be in the low 40s burrrrr no not yet... hugss, sarah

BBS1951 08-26-2009 04:54 PM

Erin, you can buy goggles that are very tinted-- that coukld help your pool/eye problem.

Dejibo: That was brave to walk in the heat/humidity :)

Ewizabeth: You really got active today :)

TxBatman< What can I say? You are the most active of al of us I think!

tkrik: good for you for stretching. Your autumn is around the corner.

sabimax: 40 degrees? brrrrrrr. Good walking weather though.

I swam 1.1 miles today. Its still very hot here and will be for at least another month.

ewizabeth 08-27-2009 09:18 AM

Yesterday I cleaned the bathrooms and swept and hand mopped all the tiled floors. I also took down the heavy plastic shower curtain liners and washed with some bleach in the water, washed the bathroom rugs too. It was DH's birthday so I cleaned the kitchen twice as well, once in the morning and then after the tasty dinner that our son cooked.

The housework was wayyyyy overdue. Today and tomorrow I want to get the dusting, polishing and vacuuming done as well. I also need to get groceries because we're low on everything.

I also have to file form 1040x for my son today. I hate that form, lol. I work with state of Illinois retail and telecom taxes and employment but the 1040 for the IRS is the pits. I think because of the sneaky changes they make every year, lol.

BBS,

This thread seems to be helping me get more done. I tend to go into neutral mode quite easily.

Thanks for doing this, it helps to check in, for me to keep moving. :)

It rained about 3-4 inches here the last two days, with more to come today and tomorrow so I need to get the indoor stuff done. I can work in the garden this weekend, woo hoo!!! It's supposed to be 58 degrees and sunny on Saturday! :)

BBS1951 08-27-2009 09:20 AM

Thats great ewizabeth! I was hoping that it would inspire folks to keep moving :) Your housework is amazing.

I swam my mile this morning in 50 minutes. It was very refreshing.

I will be gone Saturday to visit in Atlanta, but back Sunday morning. Keep moving even when I'm not here :)

SallyC 08-27-2009 12:48 PM

Still moving..Yeaaaaaaaa!!!:D

Erin524 08-27-2009 01:45 PM

I'm not feeling good today. I'll spare the details, but will mention that I have a tummy ache and just feel yucky.

I'm not sure I'm going to do any treadmilling today when my dad gets home from work. I didnt do anything yesterday either. I might tell my dad to go without me.

I havent taken a shower since monday, (ewww!) So, if I can get up the energy to crawl into the shower, I'm hoping that scraping off the layer of dirt and washing my hair will make me feel better. I'm a little dizzy, so I'm waiting for the Meclizine to kick in first.

billie 08-27-2009 02:25 PM

You should feel wonderful

I begrudingly put on my shoes, and drag my morning butt to the mailbox. He is usually just walking up on it. This morning a neighbor joined in with her two westies. The pace was more brisk than I am used to, but I suppose its good to be pushed a bit.

I am home, wiped, sweaty, tired, and glad its over. There are some days I just DONT want to go! I am thrilled I am up and walking again, but have those slow lane days that I am not motivated.

Tomorrow will be better. it will be great when the humidity leaves us.

You should feel wonderful - I just got back from walking around the block for the first time in about 6 months. I'm with those above who don't want to be caught - dead or alive - in a swimsuit! I've got to pick up the pace, but I'm not sure I can. billie

Erin, you're doing better than me, although this is the second day in a row that I bathed!! I've ordered a footpad that I hope will help me walk better - don't know what the problem is - fat pad atrophy of the foot or something, but in the meantime, no walking until today, when I went around the block - Yay. billie

I managed to get in the shower and wash my hair. Now I'm sitting here, trying to get the energy up to comb it before it dries to the side of my head in a tangle. I'm so tempted to go back to bed now.

My back hurts so bad that I couldnt bend to dry my legs. Couldnt bend down to pick up my brush when I dropped it. Ended up using my hair dryer to dry off after the shower. (put it on Cool so I wouldnt get too hot). I just need to get up the energy to comb my hair now so I dont scare anyone if I go outside.

Stomach still hurts. I think I forgot to take any tummy medicine for the past couple of days (did IV steroids last month) and I think my stomach is not happy with me for forgetting the tummy meds. I think once I get my hair combed, I'm going to go thaw a bagel out and put some fresh-made peanut butter on it and take an extra tummy pill. (grocery store did a remodel, and they have a machine that makes fresh peanut butter...tastes better than the stuff that comes in a jar)

I might go treadmill for a bit if I feel better after hair combing and the peanut butter on a bagel lunch. Right now I just feel really super tired and shaky.

Billie, welcome to our Keep on Moving Club, you are our newest member :)

At our public pool are people of all shapes and sizes. In the older crowd, many are over 300 pounds. Some of them are thin but sooo old, like in their 90s that their skin is decrepit. So, I am so proud of them for getting into a suit and into the water. Go for it girl! Get in the suit and into the pool-- who cares what anyone else sees or doesnt see-- it's your health we are talking about here :)

Erin, have you called your doctor about your stomach and your weakness? Or is it just more of the same?

I swam a mile this morning. Tomorrow I will be flying out o f town, and back on Sunday, so, will be away from the board.

Its nearly September: Watch fo the September thread which I will post later in the day on Monday.

ewizabeth 08-29-2009 12:19 AM

Nothing for me Thurs or Fri. I have some work stuff that really needs to get done but I also need to vacuum and dust, and exercise. I think it will be basketball down at the park tomorrow, then maybe gardening since it's supposed to be nice outside tomorrow. I'll check in after I have something to report. :)

ewizabeth 08-29-2009 06:02 PM

Alrighty then, 20 minutes of brisk basketball for today, then 20-30 minutes of weeding and puttering in the garden. It was 65 degrees with low humidity, partly cloudy and windy so I didn't get overheated at all. :)

Tomorrow I really, really need to finish the housework, yucky... I hate to dust, lol. :icon_rolleyes: Maybe I should get a DVD player and play music to dust by, lol.

BBS1951 08-30-2009 12:30 PM

I hate dusting too ewiz. Isnt basketball fun? We just got back from atlanta. Guess who was sitting at the bar next to DD and DH-- Alan Iverson, the NBA superstar :)

I just swam 1 1/4 miles and it was wonderful, again :)

BBS1951 08-31-2009 04:47 PM

I swam a mile this morning before work.
