I walked a mile before I got up today..:D

BBS1951 08-10-2009 07:08 PM

Sally, do you mean in your dreams?

SallyC 08-10-2009 08:41 PM

LOL, No, I mean I do my exercises and stretches, before I get up..;)

tkrik 08-11-2009 11:58 AM

Stretching is done. This morning I had to concentrate more on my hamstring as it is in a tight spasm this morning. So, I did a little extra work in that area this morning.

Sally & BBS - I do so much walking and running in my dream life it's exhausting. No wonder I wake up with my muscles already tight and fatigued. :D j/k

AZjanie 08-11-2009 03:41 PM

I have restless legs all night long so guess that counts as sort of a recumbant biking??

Swim class today and snacks after class were Italian donuts, cranberry bread, coffee cake and cherry cheesecake!:D:eek:

We were sitting around eating snacks and wondering with all the aerobics we do why can't we lose weight....pass the donuts!! :p

BBS1951 08-11-2009 03:49 PM

Oh MY-- all of those are soooo not swank!

Good going Tkrik, sallyc and AZ ! I swam my mile today too, right before going to work.

AfterMyNap 08-11-2009 05:01 PM

Had to do my hiking indoors today, so I chose my local Target` Boutique, and what a mistake! I'm officially boycotting Target now, their AC is controlled by some bean counter in the district offices and it was 81° in there (according the the thermometers in the summer section)!

I was so jelloed out, I had to cut my hike short and come home for a nap.

BBS1951 08-11-2009 08:02 PM

81 in Target? Whoa, that is criminal. Usually those big boxes are freezing cold!

freeinhou 08-12-2009 06:28 AM

Wow. Guess I missed this thread. I've been busy - we got the last bird down 7/31 and the next one is going up 8/25...

Snoopy - Rushmore during bike week. That's pretty good. We did it last year - intentionally.

I got a distinct visual imagining AMN schlussing thru Target...

Batman's crazy. The freakin' thermometers here are stuck at 99 degrees. Every day!

I don't exercise short of what I do at work. I gotta spend a couple hours this morning in the utilities tunnels under mission control. This is always fun, what with all the steam piping, high voltage lines, climbing up and down ladder rungs, etc.

Tom

TXBatman 08-12-2009 08:24 AM

I won't deny that Tom, but most of what I am doing is indoors. Spin class last night again...55 minutes, Max HR 88% of max, avg 75% of max, 754 calories...

Looking to do the Tour de Pink (breast cancer fundraiser) in a few weeks...probably going to do the 65ish mile route, so its time to start getting in some more real saddle time on the road over the weekends. I sure hope it starts cooling off soon!

I might also be because I added back stroke for 1/8 mile (crawl for 7/8 ) and I used to do it all in crawl.

Keep on Moving people :)

Sheesh, the fact that you can swim a mile amazes me! The time is insignificant. *crawls over and strokes BBS on the back* :p

I hiked to the top of a hill ... sorta. Our family went to an outdoor summer theater at Sundance (Robert Redford's ski resort). A shuttle took us from the parking lot to the base of the mountain and dumped us off.

It was maybe a 3-4 block hike (seemed longer). My legs are Still sore and that was 2 days ago! 16 or so years ago I skiied down that same mountain (not gracefully, mind you!) So pretty up there!

BTW, the play was the Fantasticks.

Keep on keepin' on, everyone!

barb02 08-12-2009 10:06 AM

I went to the pool yesterday. I just moved around (jogged, kicked, etc) for about an hour.

BBS1951 08-12-2009 10:42 AM

Thanks Twinkletoes. Do you think your legs hurt due to lack of conditioning, or is it the MS, or both?

Barb: I did not know you like to go to the pool. Good for you for making time for moving around in the pool. I'm such a fan of pools for MS people-- it keeps us cool and we cant hurt ourself if we "fall" in the pool.

I swam a mile this morning :)

ewizabeth 08-12-2009 08:29 PM

Hello everybody! I need encouragement to keep moving. I think I'll pull up a chair. ;)

I've been very good this week so far. :) On Monday morning I went for a 25 minute walk before work. On Tuesday I did 40 minutes of Pilates floor exercises. This morning, I went 15 minutes on the elliptical and I puttered around the yard this evening for about an hour, pulling weeds here and there and moving the sprinkler around to all the flowers. I'm proud of myself.

I'm going to try to do something each day because my mood is about 999% better when I get up and do any sort of exercise regularly.

Erin524 08-12-2009 11:31 PM

My insomnia is really horrible this week. (this is what I get for wanting my vision back to normal...I traded my sleep for better vision when I took the steroids)

I walked nearly a mile yesterday. Took my Kindle with me again. The K is dangerous for me. I dont even notice the time while I'm reading until something starts to hurt, and then I look down at the timer and realize that I've been walking for 40+ minutes. (the Kindle cover I have my K in lays nice and flat on that little bookshelf on the treadmill, and covers the timer so I dont see it)

I didnt sleep last night. Was already running on 3hrs of sleep from the day before, and so my poor brain and body were wanting to kill me at 5am this morning when I finally was able to sleep. (got up at noonish today)

Tonight when my dad got home and asked if I wanted to go treadmill, I was just so tired that I couldnt do it. I've been falling asleep everytime I sit down. Was trying to crochet, but I was ending up with a yarn tangle because I'd fall asleep in mid-stitch.

I'm hoping that I'll be tired enough tonight to sleep at a normal time. My dad wants/needs to exercise tomorrow and I think he really likes it that I've been coming along with him. So, if I'm not in a coma from the lack of sleep, I'm going tomorrow afternoon. (hopefully we can go out for Greek food as a reward afterwards)

Twinkletoes 08-13-2009 12:18 AM

[QUOTE=BBS1951;550782]Thanks Twinkletoes. Do you think your legs hurt due to lack of conditioning, or is it the MS, or both?

QUOTE]

hehe ... My legs hurt cuz they had to carry a heavy load (me) up a steep hill! Can't really blame it on the MS that I'm overweight.

But you guys who exercise Rock! Keep up the good work! :)

BBS1951 08-13-2009 09:45 AM

Hang in there Erin. Lack of sleep is such a tough thing. Do you have access to a pool? Moving in a pool is more relaxing than walking on land,....

Welcome ewizabeth-- you are the energizer bunny of the day :)

I swam a mile this morning.

SallyC 08-13-2009 10:30 AM

You asked if I did my exercises in my dreams and I said no, but on second thought....YES!! Some active dreams have me exhausted upon waking.. I need to stretch out even more because my muscles are sore and tight, from running and stuff..

Dejibo 08-13-2009 02:24 PM

I have a hemmorhoid this week. (refer to my constipation thread) and its uncomfie to do much. I have been trying to just take it easy, and be kinder to myself this week.

BBS1951 08-13-2009 05:19 PM

Youch!.......

TXBatman 08-13-2009 11:06 PM

Spin class tonight again...65 minutes, max HR 88% of max, avg 76% of max, 845 calories burned. Heading for San Antonio tomorrow to watch 20+ million bats emerge from Bracken Cave tomorrow night. Looking forward to seeing it for the first time!

ladylurk444 08-14-2009 07:52 AM

I did not keep up with a daily routine this week. I did my motomed Wed. I only did 3km but was not disappointed. I paid attention and realized I did get a good workout. I had some how set my goal for 4 when it should have been 3.

I will miss my motomed next week so I really need to my do my other exercises. Keep after me. :)

Erin524 08-14-2009 11:55 AM

My Kindle and I went treadmilling again last night. Walked a little over a half hour and barely noticed while I was reading a new Stargate novel.

After that half hour was over and I was still walking tho, my right foot started to feel weird. Not exactly weak, but just weird. So, I figured I had just done too much and decided to sit down and wait for my dad to finish his exercise.

Foot got kind of tingly and a little numb while I was waiting for my dad. That went away after my dad and I left tho. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I had not eaten yet yesterday when we were at the exercise place. (sometimes I dont eat till dinnertime...we were at the gym yesterday from 3pm till close to 5pm)

I was shaky hungry by the time we got to my favorite greek restaurant.

Today my right foot doesnt feel weird anymore...at least for now. I'll probably do some more treadmilling tonight when my dad gets home, or a little later than that tonight (on weekend nights, my dad likes to do shorter exercise routines later in the evening...less people to compete with for a treadmill or other machine)

Why? :ROTFLMAO:

I have a couple of friends who go to the bike rallies - I know what goes on :p It is beautiful there ;)

I had PT today - she worked my butt off, I was sweating by the time I left

Getting ready to go for a walk around the neighborhood with my son :)

BBS1951 08-14-2009 01:47 PM

Good Job Batman. Have a great time watching the bat flight!

LadyLurk, good for you! And here is me keeping after you to keep it up in the coming week :)

Nice Job Erin. Bring food with you? Like a piece of low fat cheese, or peanut butter-- I have trouble on treadmills cuz I get a pseudo flare from them, like what happened to you. And last time, it was a painful pseudo flare. I'm sticking with the pool :)

Snoopy, enjoy your walk with your son. Those are precious times.

I swam a mile this morning as the sun was coming up over the pool. Very nice.I'm aiming to take the clutter out of the yard this weekend (ugh, in the heat) in preparation for the possiblility of a tropical storm arriving in one week...

BBS1951 08-15-2009 09:30 AM

Another day, another one mile swim.

The storms are lined up like bowling balls in the Atlantic. Drat-- its so much physical hot labor getting ready for these cyclones.

Dejibo 08-15-2009 01:07 PM

my bottom is feeling better, so I did a half mile walk today. I wanted to strive for the mile, but it was way to hot, and humid, and I knew if I pushed, I would suffer all day.

Erin524 08-15-2009 02:41 PM

I did my half hour of treadmill last night. Didnt do much over 30mins...my knee started to hurt. If it wasnt for that, I would have walked a lot more, I had my trusty Kindle with me, and my Stargate novel was getting exciting at the point that my knee made me quit.

I really really love that Kindle. So much easier for me to walk for a half hour or more when the Kindle is distracting me from the actual walking.

BBS1951 08-15-2009 07:05 PM

Dejibo, that is great! You don't want to hurt yourself, afterall!

Erin, sorry about the knee. That kindle is a miracle isnt it? I think I might get one this year too. You dont miss the hold and feel of a book?

There are two storms out there, ana and bill. So, I pulled down >20 large containers filled with soil and plants off my roof (which is 4 stories off the ground!) in the Florida heat today, -- one hour at noon (what a mistake, so hot), and one hour this evening before sunset (not as bad). That was a ton of exercise. I am preparing for the hurricanes. I have about 20 more to go....probably tomorrow.

If you do the hard work, it ensures that the hurricanes will not come. If you do not prepare, however, they WILL come indeed.

Snoopy 08-15-2009 07:38 PM

Exercise today is not happening in any way, shape or form.

Yesterday between the PT, taking a walk with my son, clothes shopping with my teenage daughter, going out to dinner and then doing laundry my body is now rebelling

I kept going yesterday knowing full well I might feel like crap today but it's not the first time I have overdone and it won't be the last :p

I tend to push my limits at times with full knowledge of the after effects :D

I wouldn't have traded yesterday for anything, it was a great day ;) Tomorrow I should be back to "normal."

Books are heavy (I've got the entire Harry Potter series in hardcover!! I could use that as ballast to keep a hot air balloon from flying away)

Book pages blow around in the wind when you're outside or if your gym has a hugemongous ceiling fan that creates a breeze in the room.

Kindles weigh something like a few to several ounces (not sure what the specs are) and the pages dont turn unless you click the Next Page button.

Kindles (the Kindle 2, which I dont have...I've got the K1 instead) can also read your book to you (in a computer voice) as long as the publisher wasnt being a jerk and had that functionality turned off for books they publish.

Plus, the Kindle is just too cool. I'm a gadget freak tho. A nerd. I love gadgety things like Kindles.

BBS1951 08-16-2009 01:00 PM

I think we all know where you are coming from Snoopy. I'm glad it was worth the payback.

I swam 1 1/8 miles this morning. It was so nice to be in the crystal clear pool.

Crystal clear seems sooo relaxing. Nice swim :)

I did 1 1/4 miles on the Elliptical.

Took a 1 mile walk.

Did 20 minutes of PT exercises.

sabimax 08-16-2009 06:26 PM

Last week vertigoed off...so have not done much other than work, a few rounds golf, and resting... last monday was bad, vertigo bad... blahhhhh

anyhow, stretched today other than work, as my back is spasm central ugg

BBS1951 08-16-2009 07:50 PM

NIce Job Snoopy :)

Sabi, good for you for playing a little golf despite vertigo. Vertigo is the worst.

ewizabeth 08-17-2009 01:45 AM

Sarah,

You put in 50 hrs each week at work on your feet, then tend to your five dear kiddos when you get home. You do great my dear, never, ever forget that.

I'm so glad you try to get exercise with your DH on your day off. We want our resident Mommy to be in the best of health.

pud's friend 08-17-2009 04:22 AM

I'm going to join in with this thread. I've got off my butt and started moving again.

The (swim spa) pool is at 29 degrees and I swim 30 minutes usually. I swam for the first time since feb (when it all hit the fan). Near killed me. But I think it was the heat more than the swim. First humid day since dx.
I also walk the fence line every day. We only have 20 acres but lots of corners and separate paddocks.
Wipes me out.

and I just rode my horse and didn't get thrown off this time. Yayyyy

BBS1951 08-17-2009 10:21 AM

Hi Pud and welcome to the club. I enjoyed hearing about how you exercise.

Horses always scared me. I got on one once and only once and that was enough for me :)

I swam a mile this morning.

Dejibo 08-17-2009 04:21 PM

its too hot/humid for me to go outside and try even simple walks. I have been doing gentle yoga in the AC house.

BBS1951 08-17-2009 05:16 PM

Yoga is good! Its good for the mind and the body :)
