I went treadmilling again today with my dad.

I wanted to use the really nice treadmills (they have two different kinds there) and the one I used yesterday was in use, so I went to use one of the others next to it, and was saddened to see that they didnt have the book ledge on them.

So, I had to use one of the not-as-nice treadmills so that I could read my Kindle again today. Ended up tripping on that treadmill about 18 minutes into the walk. (good thing I use the Emergency Stop string) Someone walking past me distracted me and I tripped. I didnt fall down, but ended up twisting my back a little bit when the emergency stop slammed me to a halt. I did maybe another 5 minutes before my back told me to go sit and wait for my dad to get done with his workout.

Good thing I had an ipod and Kindle with me today. My dad went another 45 minutes! I just sat there and re-read one of my Stargate novels. (I could have bought another book, but Amazon only has one more Stargate novel left in their inventory of Kindleized Stargate novels. I need to start clicking on the "I want to read this on the Kindle" button on the other books more often.

WOW!!

Only 98 degrees for a high yesterday and today so we are enjoying the cold spell.

I went for a walk around the neighborhood last night as there was such a nice breeze.

I visited with some of our neighbors I'd not seen for quite some time and they want to walk too which will be fun and nice to get out and exercise.

Most evenings are cool here with a nice breeze so we will walk off dinner calories or at least some of the little critters!

Keep on movin' on!

Change of plans this weekend. We slept in saturday morning instead of getting up to mow the lawn (and it felt GREAT!). By the time we woke up it was too hot to mow (1/3 acre with 2 pushmowers), so we just goofed around and went to visit my mom for dinner.

This morning we got up early and mowed and weedeated the lawn. This evening, my wife was too tired for a bike ride, so I went to the park by myself and did 55 minutes at 17 mph for a total of 15.6 miles. I was trying to do an approximately one hour "aerobic threshold" level effort to see how the spinning classes had affected my threshold power.

I ended up with a max of 90% of max HR and avg of 82% of max HR. Since I know my threshold is around 84-85%, it appears I accomplished my goal. for the 55 minute effort, I burned 841 calories according to my HR monitor. I would have gone even faster and harder, but it was still quite hot when I started (~93-95F) and the wind shifted mid ride so I ended up going upwind for 3 of the four legs.

The mornings are cooling off and I am hoping they stay that way. I can then start my morning walks again. Yeah! I miss them. I only go for time not distance.

Yesterday my exercise consisted of walking around Target with DD17. It took us about an hour and she was able to get almost all of her stuff for her dorm. In total, I don't know how many minutes of walking I got in as it was stop and go but that is ok with me.

Got my stretches done this morning.

Wow, TxBatman, I soooo miss being able to do that in the heat !

Tkrik: Two visits to Target in one week? I'd be in the rubber room if I had to go to the Big Box twice in a week. You have good mental toughness

I swam my mile in 50 minutes. My swimming has improved, but my time has fallen. I used to swim it in 44 minutes. But, I improved my stroke so that I can do two sided breathing, and for some reason, I'm a bit slower. I might also be because I added back stroke for 1/8 mile (crawl for 7/8 ) and I used to do it all in crawl.

Keep on Moving people

LOL BBS. The 1st trip to Target didn't go well and ended in us leaving quickly as my legs turned to lead and the vertigo hit right in the middle of the shampoo isle. DD17 was so ticked at me.

Even a healthy person could get vertigo and lead legs in one of the Big Boxes! Does Target have w/c for folks like us??
