The reason we have so many "cures" for mice now is because the researchers know what causes EAE. These research mice are "given" the disease, thereby making it much easier to cure EAE, which is not MS anyway.

Once the cause of MS is known there should be a lot of cures for people too.

I agree. First they have to find the cause, then the cure will come.

Rochelle,
Thanks for posting this article. How I wish things would move quicker!

I think one of the problems is that there are causes

makes it kinda tough if you're trying to nail down one outcomewith a low P-value.

Default Good news

Usually when they put something on the news they usually have an idea, I just can't help but think about the movie I am legend when they talk about curing things. Nothing would please me more than be done with this crap and the ignorance that has to be dealt with. I don't know if this is true but I was told that one of the researchers had given some to one of his buddies suffering from MS when he saw the results of the mouse

Just remember that after they cure you, they will chop off your head to have a looksee at how it happened.

My niece (MIT grad) worked summers at Stem Cell place. Thought about asking her to steal some but realized I didn't know how to use!!

You're right, kicker, there may be different options in dosage, times, etc., not to mention side effects with "unknowns". I'm wondering when they say possible CURE, do they mean just stopping the disease where it is or correcting the damage already done?? Guess we're still in the dark when it comes to obliterating this lousy disease.

By the way, I see you're in MD -- are you on the Eastern Shore by any chance? Have a friend who lives in Crystal Beach. Take care!
