One of the "blessings in disguise" I was looking forward to when I knew I'd have to retire was being able to go for rides, take day trips, etc.
Now I've turned into somebody who could go for a week and never leave the house. I have to force myself to go after the mail, and I keep putting off the groceries/errands trip as long as I can. I wouldn't even go outside. I'm not AFRAID to go out, I just don't want to. Too much hassle. Go figure.

That's the word OK....too much HASSLE!!!
I had a bit of agoraphopia in my 50s, mostly because of my panic attacks, I'd have, when going out. ![]() Now, it's just too much hassle.. ![]()

I'd love to get out more. But you're right.....it's become a hassle. By the time I get ready to go I've either forgotten what it was I was going to do or I'm too darn exhausted to do it!
The upside to all this..........I don't spend much money anymore! ![]()

Every thing all of you have said is so true! I only go out about twice a week to do stuff because of the hassle.
I even stopped getting the newspaper because I didn't want to get dressed and go outside and get it every morning. ![]() ![]() gmi |

I share your sentiments. Sometimes I don't go out but once a week. Have to have food in my cupboard. It is the hassle, and anxiety about leaving the house. Never used to be this way, would go anywhere at the drop of a hat. Maybe getting older has something to do with it too. (Uggg!) Shoot, I haven't even opened my front door yet this morning to get my newspaper, that is lying on my front porch. Hoping to get a little spunk back in my life. I am happy when I do go out, but the hassle factor always wins!

You nailed it! Now that I am medically retired I find that I have to work harder just to do simple things like groceries, mailbox, etc. I feel as if I have to work harder now that I am no longer working for an actual paycheck! Who would have ever thought that not working involved more "work"????

I think back to what a "typical" day used to entail for me.
