Has anyone's Doc told you that you can't have fibromyalgia and MG?

Mine just told me that if it turns out I have MG I do not have fibro; however, if I don't have MG than I do have fibro.

Just wondering.

I wish I had time to research this for you and put up a list of MG symptoms versus fibro symptoms. A GOOD doctor will know the difference. They are not similar. Fibro is about primary pain. MG is about secondary pain from weak muscles cramping and spasming. They don't know the cause for fibro. They do with MG. They have not determined fibro to be an autoimmune disease!!! MG is one. Fibro does not cause ptosis and fatigable weakness. MG does. Need I continue?!

Fibromyalgia, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome and depression are often thrown out there at patients, mainly women, when doctors do not know what is wrong with their patient. I know these are real conditions but the way they do it is NOT very scientific. It's like they simply can't be bothered to figure it out or even spend a little time thinking about it or researching it.

If you haven't done this already, write down all of your symptoms and see which ones seem to be fibro and which ones seem to be MG. Maybe even give the list to your doctor, with Fibro symptoms on one side and MG symptoms on the other.

Is it a neuro who said this? And, no, I've never had a neuro tell me I have fibro. Incorrectly that I have chronic fatigue syndrome, yes. And I'm not chronically tired!!!!

And it is entirely possible to have BOTH fibro and MG. I'm sorry if I am upsetting you by my blunt answers.

I hope you get solid - and scientific - answers soon. In the meantime, take it easy. Do something fun.

Well, my neuro told me I have both MG and fibro. I never had pain before with MG. But now I get pain so bad sometimes I can't see straight {oh I couldn't see straight anyway..LOL} But according to my Dr. yes, we can have both. Seems the older I get the more crap I have going on.

Pain can be a broad term, fibro pain is usually at your pressure point areas. MG can cause pain from muscle stiffness, muscles not relaxing, & cramping. I know in the beggining I had complained of pain, & over time realized it was acually stiffness & cramping was the culprit, then the doctors seemed to understand. I wake up with my muscles not working every morning, & so tight.

I was DX'd with fibro about 12 years ago and see a rheumatologist on a regular basis for it. What is confusing is what my neuro said about having either one or the other. Why can't a person have both?

I have fibro pain at the trigger points but also just generalized aching. Hard to tell what the pain is from now if I do have MG.

Very confusing.

I have had MG that was DXed over 18 years ago, no pain, muscle aches yes but not pain. I had all the MG tests that came back positive and now I have pain sometimes at the pressure points but not 100% of the time, but my left side gets extreme pain, like a knife stabs me and then it feels like a bad tooth ache in my bones. I did argue with the Dr about the fibro but he insists that is what it is so I just don't know. I am so tired of Drs at this point that I am to the point where I am going to stop going. After I get my port infection cleared and have it removed or replaced next week I think I will stop everything {except my Aralast infusions as they seem to help a bit} I don't take pain medications because of the side effects so I just deal with it. I am very curious to see if anyone else has fibro and MG.
