Desert,
That's terrific news- I'm so happy for you! ...I think I feel a remission coming on for someone! Nicky By the way, this is a bit off-topic...I think that you garden, right? You are also in the Arizona area, or somewhere like that? I was reading about wild tobacco and how it can cause MG-like symptoms just from touching it...This is probably a way-out there idea, but wanted to share it in case it's relevent in some way...I couldn't believe it when i was reading about the sx...They also pass by the next day...There are different levels of poisoning...Some people get extremely ill, others mildly (depending on the amount of exposure)... There are additional sx with this plant, such as rapid heartbeat, nausea, feeling faint... EDIT: Duh...Forgot that the avatars display where we're from...lol...That's how I knew you were from Arizona! Hehe |

Abby & Nicky, Thank you.
Nicky, I do garden, in fact I spent most of my morning outside today, the first since last Spring! I am enjoying this time feeling better. I do still have heaviness in my arms and legs, but I am not complaining. There is wild tobacco everywhere here although I generally don't touch it. There are other similar poisonous plants that may have similar effects...maybe Sacred Datura, one of my favorites. I was outside smelling the Datura flowers today so I hope that one doesn't have MG like effects. I will do some research.

Good, I'm glad you are doing better. But it's confusing because it seemed like you were doing worse recently. I wouldn't stop taking Mestinon without talking to your neuro, though. And be aware that, due to his attitude, he may form an opinion that you don't even have MG. That's what they do sometimes when patients get better!!! As if when cancer is gone, a patient never had it.
Whatever is causing the side effects or symptoms, I hope it gets better. Annie |

Annie, it is confusing. I am confused, too.
I was feeling much worse recently with all the regular weaknesses combined with a rapid heart rate and a feeling of nervousness and tense shoulders. I was worrying about my heart. I am still concerned since it has not been very long since this went away. Now, since I reduced my Mestinon after deciding it was making my heart beat too fast, I am feeling wonderful. I still have MG and still need a small amount of Mestinon, but I feel great! All I have is occasional weakness in my arms and legs and a feeling of heaviness. My body is functioning again and I am happy about it. The rapid heartbead is gone now for three days, all days with reduced Mestinon. These three days have been great. I still feel a slight tenseness after taking the Mestinon, but I feel like I still need it and also I am not going to stop taking it without talking to my Neuro first. I agree with you about my Neuro...I do have antibodies, but still... Thank you Annie for starting this thread...it made me think about things more and see the Mestinon connection sooner. And there is definite connection between the Mestinon and my heart rate. I am going to enjoy these days while they last. I want to do everything!
