Fish oil does indeed rock.
Wasw talking to a friend today who suffers from CFS, and he had a Drl. pass on research to him showing that working to exhaustion ( a state MG patients know well) actually lowers brain perfusion for up to 48 hours afterward. That will absolutely impact mental performance. He is supposed to get me the link or pdf of the research, when I get it, will share here. Makes it even more important to find our zone and attempt to live there.

I certainly have this. It is alot worse in the past couple months or so. I had a flare in March that did seem to coincide with another increase in how bad it was. When I eat brocolli regularly it did improve but cant get a good organic one right now. I do notice that my organic kiwis do give me a shift that is not as big as the brocolli but is there.

I had the full range of cognitive testing for these issues in late summer of last year. What surprised me was that she said my memory tested better than when she tested me about 12 years ago. Now I did use memory tricks this time that I have learned to use. It was like wading thru mud tho the whole test. She said that my thinking had slowed and that another issue I had had before to a much lesser degree was worse. She said a number of things could cause it. The memory thing tho sure surprised me.

Annie59, I notice a difference when I eat brocolli, too, or any dark green leafy vegetable. Organic greens seem to have a bigger effect on the way I feel, so I try to buy organic.

Nuts make a difference for my memory, too, although they are so expensive I don't always eat them. Some nuts have Omega-3s.

I have been taking fish oil for the Omega-3 about 3 months now and I really can't tell a difference in the way I feel. I am going to continue anyway because my diet is lacking in Omega-3's. The fish here is generlly low quality except for tilapia which I don't think has Omega-3...I do miss eating fish, but I don't like the way it looks, not fresh enough for me.

Chlorella? I'll look that one up, I don't know what it is. Thanks Annie B.

I just had a sudden realization! I often have one or two really good days every month, one was today, and you know what I think those days have in common? I buy one of those "Superfood" green drinks at the store. I bought one yesterday, drank half then and finished it this morning. I buy one of these about once a month. I'm going to pay closer attention next time. I think they help my memory.

I remember reading the list of ingredients and it included Chorella and Spirulina, kiwi fruit, pineapple, lots of green leafy things and more. I really don't know how good these drinks are but they taste delicious.

I think I'm going to look into making some green drink smoothies at home from fresh organic food. That may be a good way to mix in some Chorella which I looked up, it is a form of algae.

I have a juicer. Does anyone have good recipes for green drinks? Or know a good online source for juicing or smoothie recipes?

Is there a powdered drink mix with Chorella and other greens?

Just some thoughts...I'm off to look up recipes to help my memory. Thanks for the ideas!

DesertFlower, I'm not sure what information you found about Chlorella. On Web MD they warn against people with autoimmune diseases using this supplement.

They say it can cause the immune system to become more active, and this could cause an increase in the symptoms of autoimmune diseases.

I'm not sure how popular it is among MG folks. I haven't seen much on the forum.

Well, it's advisable to check with your primary doctor every single time you contemplate taking something new. And it's good to only take ONE new thing at a time, in case you do have adverse effects.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20128656

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12874157

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11347287

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11731916

There are many beneficial effects of chlorella, such as the potential to help with cancer, but studies are still ongoing. It has been used for centuries by other countries, without studies.

No one should "blindly" take anything without thorough research and a discussion with their doctor. After that, it's up to each individual to decide what they want to do.

Chicken soup is good for my immune system and I don't need a study to tell me that. And I'm not worried about it hurting me, since I've eaten it for years with no problems. But if you haven't tried something, you do need to consciously think about what it can do for or "to" you.

Back to the topic . . . memory problems can be serious, such as Alzheimer's or simply due to a lack of sleep. Again, check with your doctors, in case it isn't the MG.

Default Short term memory loss

This is a fact of taking the drugs for myasthenia and high anxiety of taking myasthenis. Taking fish oil, lecithin oil, Complex b vitamins, amd 15mg manganese will help Myasthenia patients. The other 2 things you need is a very nutritious diet and exercise.
