Ok so I took 50 mg a day for two weeks then increased to 100 mg 5 days ago. After the second dose I started getting sick. I take it with my dinner around 5pm, as I was told this would help with stomach upset. But by 10 pm I get an awful headache, I get hot, and somewhere around 11pm, I start vomiting- violently! Then chills and fever that doesnt let up until around 9am. Is this normal? Because Im not sure its worth it.

Draggin, You need to call your prescribing doctor right away. Did they run the TPMT test on you BEFORE you started Imuran? It tests for an enzyme to see if you have enough to keep Imuran from building up in your system. Doctors are supposed run it before you even start the drug!
I've never had Imuran but I do know that such adverse reactions need to be reported right away. Imuran may not be the right drug for you. I hope you can get answers today. Annie |

This is a normal side effect of Imuran and you should be getting blood tests not only for enzymes but also for white cell could and a few others. They should be done every week for a month and then every month for a yr. This effect may go away in a week or so. But take to your doctor.
