Hello,
I have generalised MG, diagnosed since 2006. Recently a sibling of mine was diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome. Does anyone know some information regarding inheritance of both conditions? Thanks! |

Hi Bluestone,
MG like other autoimmune disorders can run in families. Is it Hughes Syndrome you are talking about? - sticky blood? Higher risk of stroke etc? If thats the case then yes that can run in families too. Sorry to be the bearer of crap news Rach |

Hi, Bluestone. Ditto on what Rach said.
Yes, APS is very common to run in families, especially families who have a history of autoimmune diseases. You should definitely be checked out for it. It can be managed well but it has to also be followed by a good doctor. A hematologist would be the specialist to go to. If you get IVIG or are even considering it, you should be checked for clotting disorders. IVIG can actually dislodge a clot. That's happened to more than one MGer. Don't freak out, just find out. Get your primary doc to run the test and, if it's positive, then get a referral to a hematologist. Worrying will only stress you and your MG out! Annie |

Thank you Annie!
I have an appointment today with my MG doc and will ask about APS. You are right, it's important to put the stress away! Last year was very hard time because I had to help my father, he has Alzheimer and I had to deal with everything related to him. My stress went to a A+ plus scale... Take care! |
